I had a feeling that defeat and performance was coming.people were losing the run of themselves with their future is blue trash talk.u21 success guarantees nothing.when you analyse last years "great" run,all we bet was Derry,London and Fermanagh twice

The first thing us cavan people have to do is forget all this future is blue nonsense. Over the last few weeks are minors and seniors have been soundly beaten in the first round of the championship by very average armagh sides. And the two performances were abysmal. So lets forget about that slogan until we have the right to say it because we defiantly do not.
As bad as we were individually and collectively on sunday i taught management were very poor also. I just cant understand how everyone in the ground could see that this slow ponderous build up was working brilliantly into armaghs hands. Yet we continued with it. Surely someone on the bench could of seen this? Are offensive play could well be the worst around and yet paul o connor the best under 21 forward we produced sits on the bench along with tierney who is also a top forward? Very frustrating. There just didn't seem to be a plan on sunday apart from flood bodys back and move forward slowly. Also why have the frailties seen in the league not been sorted. How come are offensive game is still dreadful? All this leads me doubting this current management.
Are style of play will win you nothing. We need to take qualifiers seriously you never know with a good draw we could be in the latter stages of the qualifiers looking at a potential august bank holiday weekend again. But we need to see change in the qualifiers us cavan fans want to see better football and we also need to get fresh faces in and get rid of the dead wood who we seen sunday and in the league final are simply not up to it. We want change.

Really dissapointed with Sunday and all the goings on since. Havent seen the Cavan supporters so dejected in a long time. All the hope generated by 5 years of U21 success in Ulster was washed away.
It really was a dreadful performance. And this coming from somebody who has backed the present Management and players for the last few years. I have always defended them at every occasion.
But I was gutted after Sunday. It was like back to the Bad old days again.
It seemed that Armagh played us at our own game and we just dident know how to counteract it or had no Plan B.
Really have to question the team selection!!
We once again had a corner back playing or trying to play midfield.
We had a midfielder trying to play full forward.
We left our best defender in the League on the line (Josh Hayes)
We kept passing the ball accross the field when in poscession therefore giving Armagh lots of time to form the blanket defence.
We were told we had the best pair of midfielders in Ulster (Mc Kiernan / Givney), yet our goalie wouldent kick the ball out to them.
The tactics were so slow and pedestrian , by the time the ball reached Givney/Keating in the full forward line the lads were exhausted.

Lads I think it is time to change our tactics. Get rid of the blanket defence and the slow build up and go back to playing with a bit of pace. Lets do as Dublin and Monaghan do start passing the ball forward. Break the tackle and get the ball in quicker. We have too many slow defensive type players and everyone knows who they are. We dont have enough scoring forwards.
I really think we have to go for offensive players like Tinnelly, Niall Smith, Gerry Smith and Conor Moynagh. How about Kevin Tierney/Declan Mc Kiernan as a target man. And from all the reports Paul O'Connor is on fire and can score unlike so many on Sunday.
Unless we change our tactics, sadly I think we are going nowhere. It would be a shame to undo all the recent good work. The young players are there. So lets have faith in them !!!! Lets restore the pride in Cavn football!!

Brought my 11 year old daughter and 3 of her friends to their 1st county match so I could let them see how football at the highest level is played as they have just started playing themselves this year. Or should I say how NOT to be played! After 20 minutes one of them said and I quote "why dont they shoot". Another comment was "why do they keep passing sideways?". Their first experience (after sweets and minerals were secured) was to witness a mass brawl. I could see the look of terror in their eyes when everything 'kicked off' and its not something little girls should witness on their first visit to a GAA Stadium. In hindsight I should have got up at that stage and walked out but we sat there and like the comments 'are we there yet' all I got was 'Is it over yet? Cavan and Armagh County Boards should come out and apologize to the paying supporters for their teams behaviour but like all things GAA it will be swept under the carpet and put down as 'handbag' stuff. Both teams should be banned from County football for the next 12 months! Based on the standard of negative football displayed on Sunday they would be doing both counties a favour!

Here here prideof85 would like both counties to get a good spell in the championship,
No Cavan person agrees with the style of play the county team have adapted to these
Players are capable of playing good open football but management is clearly an issue here!!

Talk about being a hypocrite... Just a few weeks ago the majority of cavan people on these forums where praising cavans style of play... One defeat and suddenly everyone turns against the county!

The same player was roasted by Enda Reilly a week before the Armagh game, Junior team played the Senior team..

There was a reason we kept going sideways and backways on Sunday and that was clear lack of physical presence in the team.Everytime we tried to run at Armagh we had not the power to get by we just bounced of them like ragdolls. the team selection was strange. we went with small men when you could see the big physical strength of Armagh. They pushed up on us from the start and we couldn't win a break in the middle of the field. e should have had more physical players like Mooney and Argue on a lot earlier. I felt sorry for Hayes as he was the most consistent back we had throughout the league.

If that was the reason Josh Hayes wasn't started ,then on that basis should they not have started Enda Reilly???

Big decisions to be made between now and the 28th
Team need to step up to the plate!!!!
Westmeath will be no pushover.
Need to nullify Heslin and Glennon.
Armagh were relegated from div 2 to 3 and beat us.
Westmeath were playng div1 against top teams, so let's not kid ourselves this is not an easy task!
The question still remains, where are the scores going to come from????

Maybe Cavan should no longer participate in it? It might be of no importance to you, but it is for the management.
