Why are the games put on sundays and not on saturdays when everybody wants them to be played?

Whos the many players for each division ONE team this year ? i think it will be a good year for the geals.... castlerahen might be the dark horses this year. fergal reilly and Enda flanagen back fit they will be hard beat. Cant see St finbars doing anything MAYBE A semi final place at best cause they dont have that quality player who could push them the extra step....And kingscourt and shercock will be good but they wont stop the geals... joes will be average and i expect to see ballymachugh struggling....mixed thoughts on ramor as they has a great year last year winning the under 16s championship and reaching league final....never got to see them play so i cant really comment on them.....

At least the games are on the Saturday that weekend! I cannot understand why the county minor board even considers putting the games on Sundays? I've worked with minor teams here for the last 4 years as well as playing senior football and every year it's the same complaint of games being played on a Sunday. It's one of the main reason underage players lose interest in the sport. And I have brought this point up countless times but it appears to be falling on deaf ears.

Fair enough not every game can be played on a Saturday, especially with senior/junior games but in instances such as the first round of this years minor league where there's no reason not to play the game on a Saturday, then why not play it then?

It seems to suit someone at the top to fix games for a Sunday and they don't seem to mind inconveniencing everybody else which has been a problem in this county for years both at underage and senior level. It is nothing short of disgraceful.

Bananas there is no minor board in cavan anymore. its the senior board looking after the minor leagues and as far as i know the bord peil na nog is looking after the u16 leagues.
Games would be better early on a saturday instead of been at 3/2pm in de middle of the day like its stupid.

No I'm not anymore but I am involved with a team and the complaints always circulate about Sunday games. I have no problem with playing games in the morning, in fact 12pm on a Saturday is an ideal time. But not a Sunday...

Players have to ''mind'' themselves over the whole weekend so that they are not tired for the match. It makes players chose between playing gaelic, which becomes a ''hassle'' for some players who aren't that keen on it to begin with, and doing other things such as going out on a Friday or Saturday night.

This is why many players lose interest and overall it means certain teams struggle to name 15 players who train regularly. This is based on what I see first hand on a yearly basis.

have to agree 100% with biscutman..games far better being played on a sunday as is not easy to field teams wits lads working on saturdays plus if it was on a sunday ders a better chance of there being a crowd about to watch dese games

I haven't come across many lads that play minor football and couldn't go to matches on a Saturday due to work commitments.. The games should be on a Saturday morning. Have you considered lads who get a Sunday afternoon bus back to college being affected by Sunday games? Because there are a lot more of these than Saturday employees...

I agree with the above post. There have been some serious mistakes made this year in the allocating of teams into divisions. How can there be only 7 teams in Division 1 and 2 groups of 7 in Division 2?? This is bizarre especially when you consider the majority of the teams in Division 2 are strong amalgamations. So why aren't they in Division 1? How are the smaller clubs such as templeport and drumalee, among others, supposed to compete for this years division 2 league?

The lack of consideration for these teams and the lack of thought put into the creation of these divisions astounds me...

How are the clubs on there own like castlerahen and ramor ment to compete with the other teams in division 1 ?

Castlerahan and Ramor have a big choice of players to pick from and they have proven that they are strong teams at this age group both at u16 and u14 level.
Granted, Kingscourt and Shercock should not be allowed to join up as they have proven they are both strong division 1 and 2 teams respectively. This amalgamation is a joke. However, with 4 non-amalgamated teams in division 1, I sincerely doubt Castlerahan or Ramor will finish bottom.
