Replying To cavanblueman:  "Thats the problem with a few Cavan supporters....they think Cavan are better than they really are. We are Division 2 team, no better than Clare & Tipperary, who are actually two hurling strongholds.

Wake up and face the facts...we are an intermediate team."
Where did goonie mention Tipp or Clare? He is talking about Westmeath and Offaly, our next opponents. And yes, we are a level above them, have been for some time (same as Monaghan are to us) and will be the bookies' favourites. That's not saying it will be easy before you go on another rant. The constant need to run our team down on here is pathetic. So called Cavan fans need to develop a spine and have some self respect.

It would be better if the team developed a spine first, and no we are not a whole pile better than Offaly or westmeath. In or around their level would be an accurate assessment

I'd agree with that assessment . We definitely would struggle to beat Westmeath.
We are well capable of beating the londons and the Carlows of this world but we have failed to beat anyone of note in the championship this past 7 years.
We are very average and nobody has really stepped up from the winning u21 teams to become a top class inter county senior player.
We have a great panel of committed lads but I haven't seen any improvement even in their individual play this past few years.
Can anyone say the mcKiernan or Clarke or mc Dermott are better players now than they were 5/6 years ago? I can't.
And that's the sad part. Player development from u21 to senior hasn't happened. Full stop

That's absolute nonsense. That's like saying we are in around Monaghan's level because they struggled to beat us. We haven't been in Division 3 for over 3 league campaigns now and have been operating a good bit above Offaly or Westmeath for a while now. There's plenty of fight in this team and they are putting in huge commitments. Running lads down because they come up against better players is pitiful. Grow up, we lost a game, deal with it. There is no lack of effort here. And this lamenting at other counties' progress is embarrassing. So what if hurling counties are doing well. That's a reflection on them, on the work they are putting in and fair play to them. It is not a reflection on us. The self loathing on here at times is utterly pathetic. People need to harden up a bit.

Replying To goonie:  "Looking at the side of the qualifiers we are in I think Cavan has a great chance of progressing far. The team needs games a few handy ones to start with would be a help, 10 weeks of a break from the league to championship showed on Cavan Sunday . Also if we progress through a couple of rounds we have a 50/50 chance of meeting our neighbours again ,"
Offaly it is so. Can't really ask for much handier than that. They're not in a great place at the moment. Bad defeat today, took a few bad beatings in division 3 this year. Of course you never know in sport and it's very important we hit the ground running in this game but unless we shoot ourselves in the foot it's a game we should be winning.

Jesus we are no world beaters either.
Offaly away will give us our fill of it . Wait and see.

Folks

A great believer in taking one game at a time. However, given the teams who are in our section a route to the last 8 is achievable.

Very much so Kildare blue, if they do grasp the qualifiers seriously then they have a good chance of getting a run.

It's at 6-30 on Sunday evening because it's a game of absolutely no significance to the powers that be.....

Where did I say we are world beaters or Offaly will be easy. The OP said we need a few handy games and Offaly is about as handy as we would wish for. That's not a prediction of the result by the way before you choke. There's every chance they may beat us but they are about as good a draw as we would want. If I was Kilkenny football manager they would be about as good a draw as I would want even though a loss would be likely. This is a game we should win but if we don't take our chances and get bogged down then it will be a struggle. I hope this is not the case but I get the feeling from you that this is something you would delight in.

Why would any Cavan supporter delight in losing for God's sake??
