Tipperary great Joe Hayes has accused the GAA of being ‘greedy’ by putting big hurling games behind a paywall.

In a Facebook post which is accompanied by him standing beside a statue of Michael Hogan - after whom the Hogan Stand is named - the two-time All-Ireland SHC winner also took a pop at the GAA for allowing rugby to be played on Jones' Road.

"As I stand beside this beautiful memory to Michael Hogan in Grangemockler, I wonder what these great men would think of the GAA and the greedy way they are treating the people of Ireland particular the elderly people, my heroes, the people who showed us the way, the people who hadn't much, but showed kindness and love,” Hayes said.

"The GAA has detached themselves from these decent folks. There are lots of people who don't have internet.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves, depriving people of access to games.

"Another weekend and no TV for hurling, instead fill Croke Park with the oval ball. You should all resign, because as I see it, you have no interest in hurling and the promotion of it, but most of all no respect for our treasured older people in society.

"Shame on you."
