Replying To Inaroundehouse:  "Skelling.,lets here your opinions? All you ever do I comment on other posters posts. Let's hear your take on our last 5 years championship record? Championship record? Or do you have an opinion?"
I look in from time to time to read the more balanced posters' opinions. I have no inside track on what's happening in the set-up and it's too early to judge McGleenan. Cavan's championship record has been largely poor in the last decade. We lack forwards. There's an argument that we should have developed forwards and there's an argument that the managers involved realised that we don't have the necessary forwards and so devised a plan on that basis. You see, it doesn't have to be a black and white issue. I don't feel the need to be pro or anti Terry Hyland. I don't feel the need to mention a scoreless first half in a McKenna Cup final or to mention the inter-continental cup. Once I read these comments all they deserve is the ridicule I give them, and hence the nature of my posts. The forum is largely ruined by posters who don't want to discuss issues in a balanced way. They just want to criticise those that they've decided are to blame; an opinion they're unwilling to change. Then throw in the mindless posts of Tom Smith and the "I cant name names" stuff from the groundsman and it's all very tiresome. So until the mods get a grip of what's going on then I'll just continue to treat the forum as I've done to this point. Thanks for asking.

Replying To cavanman47:  "Then put forward that different opinion! You do realise posters have argued with my posts by making the exact same point as I made? They haven't a different opinion, they just aren't reading or understanding the post they're arguing with!"
Some posters have undoubtedly, in the past, had agendas. It seems like most of those posters have cleared off. For example, if a poster doesn't like the manager's defensive style of play then that's fine. But then to use every other thread or discussion to knock him would suggest that there's an agenda. I'm not saying any current posters have one. I'm just pointing out that such people exist.

Have you anything of note to say? I just pointed out the genuine reasons why the club league is at the stage that it's at. What the hell has that got to do with anything you've just typed? Hoganstand, land of the "I know everything that's wrong but have no idea to fix it" people.

CPA Proposals - 1 Like(s)

Replying To Soma:  "It's just crazy to think that a calendar that would work for a county like Leitrim or Longford would also work for Galway or Dublin. Iv never understood the rush to play the club All-Ireland in the calendar year either - it's 24 teams each year involved which is a very small number and except for 2-3 clubs it's very rare that a player would play in these more than 3 times in a career. I'd rather have a few weeks break after winning a provincial title to enjoy it and celebrate than to face an All-Ireland semi-final the following week."
It's a poor effort and poorly presented in my opinion. Compare it to Duffy's proposal last year http://www.gaa.ie/mm/Document/GaaIe/GAANews/13/41/92/FootballRevisionProposalA4SPREADSSCpdf_English.pdf which clearly outlines the reasoning behind it. It has to be assumed that club league football will be played when the intercounty games are going on. However, we shouldn't have to assume this. No mention of Sigerson or Fitzgibbon Cups. No mention of the Minor or U-21 grades either. Just three tables showing the calendar. Additionally, they still, despite all the complaints, have the All-Ireland series overlapping with the club championships in August. Sure the 2018 proposals (above) have done as much as that. I think it'll rightly be thrown out of the Special Congress (if it makes it there) and then there'll be a crying match about elitism etc. I'd say Brolly is rubbing his hands in anticipation of the row.

Replying To cavanblueman:  "Ok, so before the National League begins, a few things: 1. The manager is new, give him a chance, he will need at least 3 years before he can lay down his foundations. 2. We are playing in Division One, against some of the top teams in GAA - please lower your expectations, Cavan do not have the god given right to beat the top teams, any win is a massive bonus. 3. Its the National League, many teams will be trying out new players, missing players due to the All- Ireland club championshiptactics etc, if we do manage to win a game, it doesn't mean that we are going to win an All Ireland Final, so dont get carried away, just enjoy the win. 4. Please stop posting what you think should be the team, there is only one manager, he will pick the team, because he sees them at training and knows exactly who is in form and who is not. 5. Just because a player has a good game, doesnt make him a top player, he needs to do it week in, week out, unfortunately for Cavan, we have yet to see any consistency in our players, Clarke, McVeety and McKiernan for example. 6. Skelling (USA) - book a ticket and get yourself over to a match, that way, you've earned the right to post comments. 7. Best of luck to Terry the Messiah in Leitrim - maybe he can bring back the international continental cup for them. 8. Enjoy the football in 2019!!!"
I had to come out of retirement for this beauty. Funny how the USA bit makes lads feel so hardcore, like I thought it would. What's even funnier is how only a couple of posters keep bringing up Terry Hyland. The exact same posters use the term "intercontinental cup" (gets funnier each time it's typed, please don't ever stop). Could it be, surely not, that we're seeing you for about the fourth time under a different account? Like I said, keep it up. When I'm feeling blue and lonely, over here in the States, it's nice to dip in here to put a smile on my face.

ACFL Delayed - 1 Like(s)
FrDougalMaguire, your reply contains a lot of different arguments which are fine, but I'm not getting into them. However, the fact is that no county will be in the All-Ireland championship longer under the new system. Almost all will exit the championship around 2-3 weeks earlier than they would have done under the current system. Therefore, clubs will have their county players back earlier than they currently do.

Replying To Awwwwnow:  "Yes he game every U21 a chance . No manager in the history of Cavan football had the luxury of being able to use over 100 underage players at Senior level. When he left we had no full back 1 midfielder and no centre forward in those key positions. You mentioned Keating and Dunne... he didn't bring them through.. nor Johnston nor Martin Reilly nor Mackey.. what forwards did he actually bring through?? Of all the forwards that he had to choose from at underage level what forwards did he bring through that are regulars on the Senior team????"
Why did no other manager have that luxury?

Dean, you're logging in with the wrong account. You're using your cavanblueman account to reply on behalf of inandaroundthehouse. It's a schoolboy error. And the inter-continental cup is the biggest giveaway of all. Only one poster has ever used that term, and he used it to death. It's all getting pretty embarrassing. Anyway, I think we have you now. You have no agenda whatsover and the only reason Cavan got to Division 1 is because nobody else was trying. Are the moderators on holidays these days?

Replying To deanmartin:  "Last week, a club footballer tweeted that its been 66 days since the last club league game in Cavan. Its mid July, and there has been only 4 rounds of league fixtures played, despite the promise of the Chairman that he would overhaul the entire club fixtures. The County Board will tell you that its to protect the County Players, yet, just as Cavan were knocked out of the Championship, the same County Players will now be expected to play 3 club games in the space of a week, commencing this weekend.

The club scene is in total disarray, the County Board have shown very little respect for the ordinary club player, replacing the Mickey Mouse League (Breffni) with another Mickey Mouse league (Spring). Surely, it can only benefit the County Team if the players and more importantly, fringe players, are playing regular club football. When you look at the subs bench/panel, many of them wouldn't have played a match since the club fixtures, and it showed when some of them were brought on. Its time for the clubs to stand up, for the ordinary players to show their voice and demand change."
The Spring League was brought in so that club players had games to play on the same weekend as the County team was playing. It replaced the Breffni league as that league resulted in too many games overall. Is anyone suggesting that county players should play a club game the same weekend as a county game? The ACFL has been held back by Cavan reaching a league final. There was supposed to be a round of fixtures that weekend. Again, should they have played the day before the league final? The clubs also voted to remove a full round of fixtures the weekend before the league final even though the county board fully intended to go ahead with them. I repeat, the clubs voted it. I'm not 100% certain on this one but I'm fairly sure that there was a full ACFL round of fixtures pencilled in for the week after the first Tyrone game. However, as it went to a replay the games were postponed. There have been five rounds of fixtures in the ACFL. Those clubs that have only played four (and they're in the minority across all divisions) must have had games postponed for other reason, weather etc. So, there are nine rounds of ACFL games, five have been played leaving four to be played. Three of them are accounted for above leaving one game.

This thread was started by Dean Martin in one of his many moans about Cavan football. He went on to state something factually incorrect. When pulled up on it he ignores the post and moves on to moan about something else. Dean, can you address the point I made in my last post on page one or at least have the decency to admit that you were mistaken? Sean66, another moaner with no suggestions posts "sn't it great that everything is running so smoothly in our club scene...!!!! Ah sure isn't it reflected in the great progress our County team are making... "We are Blue" "Believe" ...and all that guff..." - what exactly does this add to any debate Sean?
