Roscommon manager Anthony Cunningham is adamant that competing against a side like Dublin should be every inter-county player’s dream.

This weekend, Cunningham’s charges do just that as they head to Croke Park to take on the reigning All-Ireland champions on Saturday evening at 7pm.

The Rossies need a win to keep their hopes of reaching the All-Ireland semi-final alive having lost to Tyrone in the opening round last weekend.

Dublin are red hot favourites to defeat Roscommon and the Connacht side could be forgiven for being concerned about facing the Dubs on their ‘home’ patch, but Cunningham stressed to the Westmeath Independent that they have to embrace the challenge ahead.

“We’re really looking forward to playing Dublin in Dublin. A football inter-county player who trains for almost 12 months of the year, what do they want to do, what’s the pinnacle of their career? It’s to play the best, in the best places,” said Cunningham.

“That’s what we want to do, and we want to tidy up on certain aspects of our game and get ready and get prepared for next Saturday.”
