I couldn't believe this game was at evens beforehand. Given the form lines, and remembering what Corofin did last year against a Nemo side that comfortably beat the same Crokes team on there way to the final. We knew then Corofin were a special side after last year. Corofin got caught cold against Crokes in a semi-final 3 years ago and this result was making of them really and they weren't going to get caught again. I feared Cokes would get hammering and so it came to pass and the only surprise for this observer was the bookies odds.

Gary Sice and Jason Leonard teach across the road (Belclare national school) from where I'm perched right now ( Canavans) every kid in that school want to wear the jersey and the work been done is unreal by many.

I don't suppose any of the Corofin lads will play against Tyrone on Sunday...too soon?

I read somewhere there's a big wedding in Corofin this weekend so don't know what affect that will have but wouldn't be surprised if Liam Silke & Ian Burke made themselves available. The bench has a few lads on it that won't be near the panel in the next few months too. JDF (Galway) - Posts: 322 - 21/03/2019 09:46:02 2174123 Link 1 |

It's a catch 22 situation. ... is it justified to drop lads who have helped get Galway to 1 win away from getting to another League Final or do you start the Corofin lads who have been playing football the whole year round? Personally I'd keep faith with the lads who have done so well for Galway thus far and maybe have the Corofin lads as impact subs?

All counties play miserable nonsense, including Kerry when it suits them. Pat Spillane goes on about the great Kerry style as if it were still being played by Kerry. No club or county team play attacking football, with both feet and hand, like Corofin. Dublin and Kerry supporters like to think they do but that's just self-delusion. Dublin are the nearest in fairness to the Corofin style but their footballing ability is not innate like Corofin's.

I actually think that having the likes of Silke, Mulloy an possibly Wall in the Galway team will give KW more confidence to leave more upfront something like a Comer, Burke and another (Cummins, Ó Laoi) with Shane Walsh dropping between them. Galway have been far less defensive minded this year (taking into account have to setup that way for games in gale-force winds!) The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 708 - 21/03/2019 13:34:49 2174185 Link 0 |
You have some nerve talking about guts in the final third being from Mayo, who are simply atrocious when it comes to scoring. 4 years and counting FallenStar (Galway) - Posts: 415 - 21/03/2019 14:05:56 2174194 Link 1 |
then they fall like a star when they reach HQ. No impact at the business end im afraid . Vishred (Mayo) - Posts: 303 - 21/03/2019 18:33:06 2174245 Link 0 |
I guess I agree with you. Impact subs would be best.

Probably as subs starting out I suppose.

As Mayo zero impact at the business end since 1951...

Oh, the irony... I'm 34 and was in Croke Park to witness Galway winning 2 All-Ireland titles. Yourself?? streaker (Galway) - Posts: 497 - 21/03/2019 20:28:03 2174260 Link 0 |

No, it's because he never misses a chance to have a dig at Galway. He's like Ballboy minus the comedy.

Nope. He can very much have an opinion. Its a 4 years and counting comments that has the lads backs up. Bit rich in fairness The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 708 - 22/03/2019 08:11:36 2174309 Link 1 |
Mayo and Galway have both been as bad as each other over the years in Croke Park, just leave it at that. KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 22/03/2019 17:55:18 2174412 Link 1 |
Other than Dublin everyone has been bad in Croke Park for quite a few years now. lol. I hope this trend changes soon. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2129 - 22/03/2019 19:08:18 2174424 Link 0 |
