Mayo were as I expected early in the league, poor enough but still good enough to beat an average team with dreadful tactics. Smith should be gone for a while, pathetic.

How did that wager work out for you? ;)

Jokes aside, a terrible game played in atrocious conditions. Why on earth is the GAA scheduling NFL fixtures in January, given the long lay off between the end of the league and beginning of the championship for a lot of teams?

Lots of work to be done by both sides ahead of round two. Indiscipline was notable on both sides, a few crazy cards for silly challenges.

Conditions aside.. putrid stuff.. Mayo no score from play for 39 mins!!! Serious issues in full back line still, Roscommon threw it away in first half.

Covered myself by betting the mother, father, yearly allowance and life on under 30.5 points in the game. Castlebar turned into a pearse stadium style shiteshow in the end with the team having the wind in their favour in the second half doing enough to win. Nothing learned for both sides playing in that monstrousity

Win still a win in awful conditions. The big thing about tonight is the team Mayo had out. Not far off championship unless Horan is hiding something or on the other hand he has little fate in blooding guys.

Let's make it clear you can read absolutely nothing from that game tonight. The only important thing from our point of view is the 2 points. Worst conditions I ever experienced at a game..and I was in the Hyde in 2011

Wasn't too bad considering the injuries and absentees that we had...Smyth was lucky but Mayo are plenty adept at the dark arts as well.

How can anyone judge either team in them conditions, great battling going on disappointing from Smith to dive like that and he was the one to eye gouge , ref was brutal every tackle was a free for either team. Terrible game cause of conditions but I enjoyed it if that makes sense. Colm Boyle needs to cop on he's trying to ruin careers every time he tackles very dangerous again for him , how many times does he get a black or red card , feels like every game nowadays.

Chill the beans everyone, nothing to analyse, can't play football in those conditions, the alleged gouging, well doesn't look good but still no way conclusive regarding intent, just not conclusive.

All the top teams are well versed in dark arts so let's call a spade a spade. Roscommon impressive with all those kissing and I was confident at half time as I felt ye needed to be 7/8 ahead. Watched the second half in da pub with a few rossies..good aul banter and sure isn't that what it's all about.

Nobody will believe me but I hope all 3 Connacht teams stay up.

I'd hate to play club football in Roscommon if that's just considered "dark arts".

If I was to be critical of any team last night it would have to be Roscommon, playing a very defensive game in the first half with a gale blowing behind them. It's obvious Anthony Cunningham is trying to implement a more defensive approach to alleviate the hammering suffered in the super 8s.
I couldn't understand why the commentary were criticising Mayo in the first half, with a wind like that you had to manage the game and limit the damage. Mayo achieved that and in the second half used the wind to there benefit chipping scores over from 50 metres.
James Horan will get Mayo to the last 8. Mayo are notoriously slow starters during the league but usually come right for championship.

The usual resentment by Dubs and fellow western gaels is very evident on here.
