Regardless what happens tomorrow KK has done a super job against the odds. 14/1 to win munster in may now 70 minutes from All Ireland final does Kingston deserve to be manager of the year? BartMcQueen (Cork) - Posts: 196 - 12/08/2017 12:21:54 2032569 Link 0 |
Deserves it if Cork go all the way considering where they were this time last year. Other managers like Donoghue deserve a mention especially if he leads Galway to a treble of League, Provencial and All-Ireland success, Fitzmaurice and Kerry going for the same. Yes, I think Cork would have to take Liam before you could justify that. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 12/08/2017 15:46:40 2032599 Link 0 |
Why would he be proclaimed manager of the century? It's not as if he is managing a bunch of nobodies.

Sorry bart munster titles dont make you manager of the year got to win the big one. Let's revisit this question in september blackrockeddie (Cork) - Posts: 160 - 12/08/2017 19:33:28 2032629 Link 0 |
A few names in the hat still. No,I wouldn't be crowning anyone just yet. Undoubtedly,Kingston will be a contender if Cork can reach the promised land but so too would Donoghue and McGrath in hurling and Rochford and Harte in Football providing they win Sam. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 12/08/2017 20:23:53 2032636 Link 0 |
How the mighty have fallen. A Cork man (?) coming on here suggesting they get manager of the year because they won a Munster and got to the All-Ireland semis? I hope and think this is not the general feeling among Cork people. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2482 - 12/08/2017 21:31:06 2032649 Link 0 |
Wait until September before making a decision.

I think considering the psychological barrier that they would have to break thru at this stage it would have to be acknowledged as some achievement.

Getting Cork to an AI semi final is not a manager of the year worthy level of performance. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 13/08/2017 17:03:35 2032786 Link 0 |
I think Derek McGrath has just put himself in pole position! TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 13/08/2017 17:17:21 2032798 Link 0 |

He's a great gut,very gracious in victory and defeat,but not manager of the year Tipptipp (Tipperary) - Posts: 62 - 13/08/2017 17:48:13 2032821 Link 0 |
Total class from a true gentleman. So soon after a defeat as disappointing as that to take time to remember Keady and his family was an incredible gesture. Cork hurling should be thrilled to have a man like that at the top.

O'Donoughue or McGrath will be manager of the year. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 13/08/2017 18:00:38 2032833 Link 0 |
He has done an excellent job this year and will do in the future too imho. Cork are building again which is great to see. I thought the sending off was the big difference today. Looking forward Cork are in a good place especially with the management they have in place who obviously have learned alot from last year which is a very positive sign. Now Kingston cannot be considered manager of the year but he will be commended for the big improvement shown. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2783 - 13/08/2017 18:30:12 2032845 Link 0 |
Must say I have great respect for Kieran Kingston, the way he spoke and expressed his condolences to Tony Keady's widow and children, just after losing an All Ireland Semi-Final. It was class. baire (Galway) - Posts: 1823 - 13/08/2017 20:56:34 2032911 Link 0 |
