Dublin are controlling the current GAA narrative within the media because 'journalists' don't want to be outside the camp. Dublin sells papers and brings in advertising revenue for all the media outlets and not having access to the Dublin camp could be commercially harmful. Consequently there is very, very little negative coverage of Dublin or questions asked about the disparity in funding. Furthermore if Tyrone, Armagh, Donegal or the Meath team of yesteryear had faced accusations of eye gouging, biting and dirty hits the media would have been all over it like a rash. Dublin were virtually given a by-ball and the media downplayed most of it. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9706 - 20/07/2017 23:42:22 2020328 Link 3 |
I know the hermit but sure they always have something to defunk our victories over the years but sure it'll only drive us on to more victories with Gods help.

Thanks for that mate. It seems the role is in terms of brand management of Dublin GAA, attracting corporate revenue and attracting sponsors. Seems it has nothing to do with coaching the teams in any code, the management etc im sure they advice the county board though. Its an interesting development, i cant say its not a positive one, as i pointed out with the scandal down Kerry in May. I suppose that is an example of a very delicate balance between the reputation of an amateur player and the effects of the incident and also the narrative it creates in relation to young people about doping. To be fair i think you can see the effects of this with Dublin GAA the lads are always in the media (more often then not) in a very positive sense. I am interested about this and i would be surprised if Dublin are the only county who have employed a media & marketing company as a county board? So what is the system in other counties to the county board members attract sponsorship of partners or do they employ outside companies. That's interesting really. If Kerry do manage to win AI this year will it be tainted. There'll always be a suspicion there that there's been another test failure in the camp but we're unlikely to hear about it till 2019/20

haha Ulsterman. You wouldn't be aware of them if the weren't reported in the media. The most recent example being St. Diarmuid who was feed to the CCCC by Sky Sports, The Sunday Game and any other media outlet that takes print. Your so full of it I can smell you down here. You're 100% correct ulsterman and watch now as Dublin supporters and others try to deny it. Even if you listen to the Dublin interviews they don't seem natural, my god when Jim gavin was talking to the press after the Westmeath game giving out about sky and the Sunday game and diarmuid Connolly he didn't look one bit comfortable he couldn't sit still and he didn't sound confident in what he was saying . Don't get the logic saying Dublin get no negative publicity in light of the DC saga. From Spillane to McGuinness, plenty of negative comments about Dublin knocking about. The OP doesn't understand what the word 'propaganda' actually means. Ex players speaking favourably of their county is hardly a trait unique to Dublin.
