RTÉ have reversed their decision to part company with long-serving GAA commentator and correspondent Brian Carthy.

GAA followers reacted with surprise and disappointment to reports last month that the state broadcaster would not be renewing the popular Roscommon man's contract after more than 30 years of service.

However, Carthy provided commentary on yesterday's Allianz Hurling League match between Wexford and Kilkenny, and RTÉ has since confirmed to the Irish Daily Star that he will be part of the station's GAA coverage for the remainder of the year.
