Downey is very small..didn't realise until Sunday!! I just feel we need bigger men on the pitch ! The top teams seem to have very little "small" players !!

Galway would annihilate meath and Clare would be too strong as well.

Thanks for that golden nugget of information ! All we are doing at the minute is trying to avoiding the drop into Division 3 ! So we have Down and Fermanagh to worry about first before we get destroyed and obliterate by Galway ! Its great to see Dublin folk worrying about Meath and warning us about the dangers that lay ahead!

Any chance of a few pound ?

If St Colmcilles win (which we all hope the do) then Biggy will defiantly need a bit of a beak as I am sure there will be some celebrating. I think there is an element of give the ball to Graham with the Meath forwards. So another game without him could encourage the players to develop in themselves. I know Lenihan had a bit of a mare yesterday but he is a good player, has potential just needs a bit of time, its more than possible that he could be man of the match the next day."
agree with that. don't see the point in playing biggy esp after an ireland final.lets go with the team that won and give him a rest. we can have him on the bench in case things go bad in newly. it is a long season ahead.

Good win against Derry, turns around our -10pts difference which is pleasing and we're in with a good chance of getting a win up in Down if preparations go well and focus remains strong. Our form is a bit up and down it has to be said, 2 heavy home defeats followed by a heavy home victory, doesn't really give you an idea of where we're at, but again it's very early days, we'll just have to wait and see how things go.

We had bigger ones against Kildare and it did not help and some of them were not taken off until near the end. Size generally does not win much. You do indeed need some big players but some of the best players I have seen playing the game could not be described as big. Downey is being played out of position and I though he was taken off a bit early which to me was a bit harsh (considering the many opportunities offered to others)

Ask your county council

I liked Downey for a good while now agreed he is a bit small but if he is doing a job I would let him at he was out of position last Sunday ok. He was showing well turning up in the correct positions etc but got caught cold a few times. Kinda harsh to been taking off but I understand mfg taking him off the game was in the balance at that stage and its sends a signal to other players. What made it worst for Downey Joey Wallace played very well when he came on (even though Joey was left in the forward line).

bobkarlgees (Meath) Changing topics to another match! Judging by some of the comments here the Slaughtnell CB would not be on any county team either (due to his conditioning and slight look). Yet he man marked Connolly, probably the best forward in the game, scored 4 points in the process without shredding his jersey.

Yeah, I am hoping Andy and co will build up physically the likes of Downey Joey Wallace B, Mc Mahon etc. in the comming years without just dropping and throwing there our arms up in the air saying they are to small. I expect us to build up physically as a team in the next couple of year. hears hoping they will be all similar to Alan Forde :)

Slaughtneil looked like a team that spend most of their time playing football as opposed to lifting weights.

Crinigan (Meath)- I would agree with you there and it just shows what can be achieved by playing the ball and sticking with your plan.

Ratoath struggled last year in championship due to the fact they had a long run in intermediate championship and on into Leinster and all Ireland semis, then straight into senior championship for the first time
having 7 players involved with county footballers and 2 with hurlers is great for the clubs recognition in the county but hurts us as a club when they are not available to train or play until championship, hard to tell how we will fair out this year as this is new ground for us
