Either the ref didn't see it on the day so it should be dealt with now or the ref saw it on the day and failed to deal with it, which is probably more likely and more worrying. The bottom line is it will be a travesty if Reilly doesn't get to play but his assailant does and every body will know it. Wedgie (Meath) - Posts: 253 - 20/10/2016 18:32:13 1927976 Link 0 |
Was a neutral at the game last week. Reilly got a few shoulders off the ball, went down very easy on two occasions. Nothing too write home about. Possibly a yellow for the Dunderry. Talk of Reilly getting off is nonsense Maestro (Meath) - Posts: 569 - 20/10/2016 20:30:30 1927992 Link 1 |
I was at the match, and seen Reilly strike clear as day ....red card correct decision ...handbags before that ,but noluso (Meath) - Posts: 164 - 20/10/2016 23:03:59 1928027 Link 0 |
And so Graham Reilly did appeal with the result to be announced in the morning. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 21/10/2016 00:06:43 1928044 Link 0 |
I bet they won't, their player lashes out it's "handbags", the victim retaliates and it's a clear sending off offence. A bit embarrassing for Meath GAA if they punish one but not the other, Dunderry would never exactly be noted for their sportsmanship on or off the ball, the victory would always be tainted but if they're that desperate let them have it. My view is that Reilly's ban should stand but action should be taken over the incidents that preceded the red card, it's a bit hard to ignore the video evidence. And so the appeal fails. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 21/10/2016 09:59:51 1928079 Link 0 |
Bit insulting to the great Meath Teams to say Dunderry play like them. Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 518 - 21/10/2016 10:10:03 1928084 Link 0 |
No surprises after hearing. thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 1047 - 21/10/2016 10:27:34 1928089 Link 0 |
As expected. Still fancy Cilles to take them though. Kepak10 (Meath) - Posts: 162 - 21/10/2016 10:27:49 1928090 Link 0 |
A s I said before he was silly to strike out but I do feel sorry for him. With a good referee he would be playing next Saturday- Some of the other decisions (or lack of decisions) he made were hard to fathom-a guy went to pick up the ball 7/8m away from him, was clearly pushed to the ground when he bent down but no free given. If that is one of the best we are is serious trouble. The best of luck to both sides on Saturday and I hope it is as entertaining as last day out. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 21/10/2016 10:31:40 1928092 Link 4 |

Its GAA not soccer. He would of been told before the game that this would happen and he lashed out and let his team down. This isnt a one of situation that has never happened before. All skillfull players are targeted like this every game. If he didnt lash out, as the game went on and the player/players who were targeting him would of got the pulled up. He just took matters into his own hands. Every manager tells ya this before the game when on paper your team is better and dont get dragged down to their level.

Am I missing something here Reilly elbowed the man in the face and gets a red card and rightfully so no matter what went on before. Retaliation is a sending off offence in Gaelic games,so get on with and play the game. just.john (Meath) - Posts: 97 - 21/10/2016 13:26:00 1928146 Link 1 |
How ironic just.john, Biggy was trying to " just get on with it and play the game" but he couldn't because he spent more time on the ground due to the mauling he was getting. I personally love the physical part of our game but what was going on there was ridiculous. Having said all that there is a lot more to colmcilles than just one every talented county player, there are plenty of players in that squad with skill and guts and I really hope they win tomorrow. The game last week although low scoring was a great game to watch and was played in good spirit so here's hoping tomorrow is no different. Best of luck cilles bring her home!!!!! meathmagic (Meath) - Posts: 7 - 21/10/2016 14:15:47 1928158 Link 2 |

In fairness lads he went down like he'd been shot. he should have stood there and got in the dunderry lads face and shown that he wouldn't be messed with. Exactly what is wrong with the county side and the main thing I hope Andy sorts out. Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 630 - 21/10/2016 15:44:05 1928189 Link 2 |
I'm glad the red wasn't rescinded , it would make a further mockery of the rules of the GAA if he got off after the ninja elbow that was thrown . If things get out of hand on a football pitch , its the referees , and umpires job to regain / maintain control . That's why they have a Black , Yellow , and Red card in their back pocket ....... And if issues are not raised on the day on the pitch there's no point retrospectively trying to address them otherwise referees will be stopping ,and starting games like mad, trying to second guess every one of their on the spot decision , and nobody who pays to see the games wants that ......On a positive , it shows that we're not Dublin ...and rules are rules ... Exactly he could/should have grabbed the player by the shirt/got in his face or something.

"On a positive , it shows that we're not Dublin" You say that like it's a good thing...? Wedgie (Meath) - Posts: 253 - 21/10/2016 19:03:26 1928233 Link 0 |
I think MeathTrue was speaking about it in relation to the rescinding of red cards , especially where Co. footballers are concerned , i.e. Connolly debacle . Chaisleain_Abu (Meath) - Posts: 220 - 22/10/2016 09:06:49 1928282 Link 0 |
