Ziggy id love to have the spare time you have. I think you should be sending your scouting manual to Andy McEntee, you clearly seem to have enough time to know pretty much about each player in Meath and to waste half your day in here responding to messages. My Hero.

Have only seen Trim play twice this year but in the games James Toher has showed tremendous long freetaking ability something that is a rarity in Meath

These threads are always funny. Apparently we have about 80 players definitely who are as good if not better than the players on the current team, yet have somehow been overlooked for years. If our injured/MIA players all came back I'd add at most 5 players to the panel, we actually haven't much dead wood at the moment.

For example there's always a good few recommendations for a lad because he's a "solid keeper" or something along those lines. Generally this just means he's not jittery and hasn't dropped the ball into his own net in recent memory. Problem is nearly every goalie in the county is a "solid keeper", most teams wouldn't put him in goals otherwise. You've to be pretty exceptional to stand out and make the Meath team.

It will depend on manager micko went for light type footballer a lot from same clubs which was his prerogative. Results tell the tale now. But look Andy mc needs put his own stamp on it.all the lads mentioned here I'm sure someone will b putting an eye on them.hopefully fair crack at it from all parts of meath.

Do you think he is good enough to be given a run or trial?

Shane Geragthy perhaps could be good enough?

We definetly need to introduce a bit more power to the side with mobility. There are players like that I believe.

If he was actually that good I'm sure Slane wouldn't be competing in the Junior B competition.

A county standard forward would be winning the competition on his own, which he is obviously not.

Well I wouldn't agree with that reasoning. Also Slane could still win the competition. It will take a good team to beat them!

If yous put any of meaths current forwards out in a junior B game they would simply run riot, why? Because they'd be inter county standard footballers playing in a very poor division.

I've seen McGowan play he's better than most in Junior B but that's not saying much and certainly no where near county standard.

Focusing on the standard of Junior B is completely irrelevant to the standard of one player. At least the lad has the pride to stick with his club and has not tried to jump ship to the so called big boys and chase silverware.

McGowan is a fantastic player who has played with Meath Minors and was probably the stand out performer for them. I am not saying he is inter county standard but if he was taken from Slane, I don't think there is a senior club in the county that wouldn't want him.

Andy Mc has enquired about 4 of our players after their performance against Ballivor in Navan last Sunday week, he made contact with Colin Nally our manager . Obviousley he's scouting all matches to see what talents available to him .

Ziggy ; sorry for late reply but Colin wouldn't tell players of what individuals were of interest but I'd say Brennan , Banty, Browne , & you could take a guess of who the 4th would be .
