Replying To royaldunne:  "All 3 goals achieved. Thank you Andy McEntee.
On the game itself a bit nervy to say the least. Keoghan had perhaps his best game of the year today, immense, harnan little rusty in first half but grew as game went on, Newman was excellent thought the full back line was fantastic, mid field hit and miss, Conlon what a player, Newman back to his best, thought Reilly while not scoring acted as a good link man. Also a special word for Ben Brennan the man has taken dogs abuse for the last 2 weeks, he was fantastic when he came on and got a point. Delighted for him. All and all we can sit back and relax, the super 8s , hopefully micky is alright for next week, posts should be padded. That looked very nasty , but his bravery was fantastic, McMahon worked all day long, and took one for the team.
Walsh looked good when he came on. Not going to mention any negatives. Brilliant score line.
Onwards and upward.
Hon the royal"
We cannot surely be happy with today's defence.

Clare scored 1-18, which incidentally is more than Dublin scored against Meath.

Hon the Royals.

Replying To Marara:  "Brennan came on and ran like a dog to close it up as that was all that all the 15 where doing at that stage of the game. Also took the winning point of the game well considering the abuse and bullsh*t that's been written about him over the last week. Cillian O'Sullivan has contributed absolutely nothing the last 2games and not a word said. Against Dublin, all 6 forwards where useless to what all 6 are capable off yet Brennan has been singled out on this all week for criticism. Delighted it was his score that was the difference today"
O'Sullivan is a far bigger threat than Brennan !

Replying To royalpad:  "Yes we won but that was another poor performance from our forward division .
Our backs again stood up very well as
a unit especially McGill , Lavin & Harnon . Keoghan was just immense . Unfortunately Colgan will continue to cost us a couple of give away scores each game but there is no alternative at the moment .
How the Mgt team looked at COS for the full game is a concern . Again he wasted so much ball and it now looks like this just can't be coached out of him so for me a spell on the bench is required . McMahon is too light for an inter county No 11 and offers no real threat against a strong defence .
Hopefully Mewman will be fit and Conlon continues to develop . Would start Walsh and see how he goes . In truth we simply lack 6 inter county forwards at present and we
will have to drive on with what we have .
Still all targets achieved to date and we are in bonus territory so let's hope we can deliver 3 good performance and improve as the series develops .
And for those who don't agree that's fair enough but I have attended every game this year and will be on the road next week as well but have to call it as it is ."
Our forwards accounted for 1-13 (1-8 from play) with all 6 starters getting on scoresheet.

Reilly brilliant link man. And Brennan only player to keep the show on the road in last 10 mins. Delighted for him after the abuse he received. Thrilled, delighted.

Great win not best performance but we are in the Super 8s and I would have taken that at the start of the year now we will be playing 3 High Quality teams not sure how will get on in them but it can only improve us as team playing the top teams. Up the Royal and bring on the super 8s

1.A.Colgan
2.S.Lavin
3.C.McGill
4.S. Gallagher
5.D.Keogan
6.P.Haran
7.G.McCoy/R.Ryan (if fit)
8.B.Menton
9.E.Devine
10.C.O'Sulivan
11.B.McMahon
12.B.Brennan
13.J.Conlan
14.M.Newman
15.S.Walsh.

Thought Devine had a couple of very impressive fields today and always used the ball well also...not the worst idea Iv heard on here

Excellent excellent post on Brennan. Some of the stuff said about Ben on social media has been totally ott. I'm not going into the cos debate, as I don't want any negatives, I'll only say I'm not going to disagree.
But Ben. Fantastic, he rammed it down the throats of the keyboard warriors.
Winning point to get us into super 8s scored by..... BEN BRENNAN.

Devine Conlon and Campion have added something this year. They seem fearless and with buckets of talent. Watch out for Walsh. I think he is a serious prospect and dont be surprised by end of super 8 he is our full forward for next year's league . I would start him v Donegal with Newman or Conlon both sides And if Newman injured Walsh will probaly start. Its pity we dont have Donal lenihan this year. But hopefully he will be back nexr year which means we could have competition in full forward line in next years league between Newman, Conlon , Walsh , lenihan , T O Reilly , Toibin , Dardis and hopefully players like Morris or Mitchell from this years under 20 team. I think a forward line of Newman Lenihan Conlon or Walsh pick any three of them has potential. But watch out for Walsh I think he is a serious prospect and player we having been crying out for a proper modern full forward.

No he didnt. Clearly played wing forward marked initially by their #7 with about 3" height advantage, before #4 picked him up. He did roam around the middle half forward division but thats the modern day half forward. Definitely positioned at wing firward for k/outs though.

I'm not getting into negatives, I wouldn't blame the full backline for fair bit of them scores. Two reasons been , one Clare scored a fair few around the 45, and two our halfbacks were used more as forwards than defense today.

Haven't heard anything about Walsh and Aus. He isn't the most lean so maybe they wouldn't take him on that grounds. Hopefully they don't. Cian McBride is a big worry. Already in AFL group trainings for Irish players I believe. Selfishly I hope none of them go and that Nash comes home haha

Completely missed the point, O'Sullivan I would agree is a far bigger scoring threat. Point I was making is that for all his talent and threat he has contributed nothing over the last 2 games and yet the majority of Meath fans seem to be completely blind to it. Against Dublin, all 6 of the starting forwards had an off day and the 4 that came on did nothing either. Yet it was Brennan that was torn apart on here all week, some of the comments where a disgrace to be honest.

Agree here fair play to Brennan must of been a tough couple of weeks for him.

There is some serious talent or what looks seriously good talent to come back in next year and go make the step up from the u20.

Lenihan
Wallace Brothers
Matthew Costello
Jake Morris
Conall Ahern
Dáithí McGovern
Ruairí Ó Coileáin
Ronan Jones (I hope)
Harry Rooney (Worth another look)
Along With Shane Walsh
Also think Shane Dowling and Dónal Landy from the St Patricks worth a luck at.
What happen to the Lynch fella played against Offaly haven't seen him since???

Nash for McEntee at midfield would be nice but I'm afraid its probably out of the question over the next few years.

Totally agree, it was beyond criticism. And extremely classless by some so called Meath supporters.
But he answered them in the best fashion today.

God the RTE coverage of the Meath Clare match and particularly the analysis was worse than poor. It was like they couldn't be bothered. Brilliant for us going on. Pat Spillane stating "Meath wont win any match so move on" speaks volumes....

Still can't believe we are in the Super 8s! Finally dining at the top table again! Great chance to now take each game as it comes and have a good go. You never know could get a run going and dare I say get to All Ireland. Teams in this group will take points off each other.

As for today's game. Some great performances. Surely Keogan will get an All Star. Concerned about the kick outs. I know I get pilloried constantly here for my opinion but Flanagan is being missed. No coincidence that we haven't had a decent kick out strategy since hes been off the field. Some of Shane McEntee's passing is pure lunacy.
I liked the look of young Walsh in his cameo appearance but I do wonder where did Campion go? He was the find of the league yet hasnt appeared the last few games it's strange to say the least.
Anyways enough of my ramblings I'm a bit tipsy and full from my celebratory Supermacs Snack Box so roll on the next few weeks fairytale summer! Hon the Royals!
