Right on the Longwood win but Trim scraped through against Ratoath.

Still Kiltale's to lose though.

Longwood won as expected, a tough hard working side will trouble Kildalkey
Trim ratoath game v tight, Brian McMahon outstanding. Trim finished outstanding subs were very good, should give Kiltale a run for their money but need to improve!

Disagree with trim giving kiltale a run for their money. (I know you said need to improve) but Obviously all games come down to on the day but with a performance like today don't think they will be anywhere close to them. Ratoath could have had another 3/4 goals today but bad shooting let them down. Trim didn't have any clear cut goal chances apart from the one in the second half that was driven straight at the ratoath goalie. From what I have seen from ratoath the last few years today really showed it looked like they've taken a step back from what they were like.

Poor Ratoath finishing in front of goal kept Trim in this in the first half posting only 1 goal chance from about 7 of which 3 were clear cut. Also 3 goal chances in the second half 1 being miraculously stopped by aerial acrobatics of one of the Trim backs. Trim back line was opened regularly and a better finishing team will not let them off the hook.

Trim may also not benefit from a referee who seemed to award freed to Trim for infractions that were not equally applied to both teams and that let two Trim head high tackles (one grabbing the face guard, and the second a dangerous strike with the hurl) go with out a card, having previously given out one to Ratoath for an offence that was similar to a dangerous head high slap with a hurl doled out by a Trim player in front of the ref that left one of the Ratoath players on the ground for a number of minutes.

On the performances tonight, the pick of both teams would struggle to get near Kiltale, and if Kiltale get the space and chances Ratoath generated tonight they will be more clinical and will put Trim away. And Kiltale have the unforgiving forwards to do it.

Taught the ref was terrible today in ratoath v trim game, gave ratoath nothing at all... if we could see a heat map of his movement I'm fairly sure it would all be in the center or the pitch!!
Having said that ratoath were wasteful and should have had 3 easy goals, decision making was also terrible running the ball when it needed to be let in fast! Also darragh Kelly at 5 was a strange one!
Trim are decent, but only decent!
Kiltales championship again!!

Fair assessment but Ratoath completely folded in last 10 minutes. Trim half back line dominated them when it mattered. The missed goal chances came back to haunt them more than anything. Even when they had a couple of chances to launch attacks in search of the equalizer there was an air of panic and desperation about their approach. Kelly seemed to struggle as much as everyone near end and his man did damage to bring trim back into it.

I think Trim raised their game tonight. In all seriousness this was their first real challenge of the competition.
At one point, they were 4 down and came back with 5 unanswered scores. They will need to do it again next Sunday, different ball game then.
Strange call for Kelly to line out at wing back, although he completely stopped Quigley getting into the game. Cullen was a huge influence off the bench. Ratoath full back line kept the Trim inside line very quiet I thought, which is something Kiltale will do with ease.

when are the semi's and final penciled in? Can see Longwood beating kildalky and can't see trim getting near kiltale as they will be out to prove a point after trim got close last year and they have also picked up more players this year

How did ratoath not win that game? stopped playing with 15 left and still trim got hard to beat them.
Ref was very inconsistent for them and did not help there cause at all, trim got alot of soft frees and got away with a few.
Ratoath did not reach level they got to last year , not sure exactly why.
Trim playing in such a poor group would not have helped them either

The referee was harsh on Ratoath who were the better team, not sour grapes, but we should have won. McMahon was superb, big loss to hurlers. Kiltale will beat Trim if they turn up, Trim will need to ride their luck again. Kiltale by 5

No surprise Longwood won easy against Na Fianna, they pushed Kiltale all the way in group stages, and if they get over Kildalkey, they will give Kiltale something to think about in Final. Kildalkey will have other ideas. Longwood by 1.

Trim put the shoulder to the wheel in the last 10 mins and dug out the win ,end of story
Ratoath missed quite a few goal chances by some heroic defending and not clinical enough
The Ref didnt do them any favours anyway and Ratoath couldnt buy a free for most of the game

Longwood deserve to get into the final at least with some of their performances this year. They really need to keep there players fit because if one or 2 big players get hurt I think they would fold easily. If it ends up kiltale v longwood final there could be a big shock on the cards but they need to get over semi's first.

The semis on the fixtures on the main page here.
Longwood Kildalkey on Saturday and Trim Kiltale on Sunday - both Pairc Tailteann.

Should both games have been scheduled as a double bill?

Longwood deserve to get to a final??? How do you make that out ? Do trim or Kildalkey not "deserve" to get to a final? They are a pretty poor team with 4-5 good hurlers but they also have some players on the starting 15 that aren't even related to a hurler there that bad!!
But in fairness to them the system they play allows them to work 4-5 very good players and 4-5 average players, they all know their jobs and work hard, but to say they deserve to be in a final or they are a great team is pushing it a bit!
Kiltale would beat them a point a man!

Could still have the beating of Kildalkey though?

You proved my point in the second part "but in fairness" .
Longwood are a strong unit with 2/3 v good hurlers mixed in. Look at the likes of trim that have 15 v good hurlers and are only scraping by the likes of na fianna in the last round. Not working great as a unit

I think they will have enough to get over kildalkey aswell just need to show up on the day and get into kildalkeys faces from the throw in.

What players have Kiltale picked up since last year?

It is pretty ominous for the others if they have managed to improve on a dominant team like that.
