Meath v Louth

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Was at every league game except Cork. No comparison between the first game against Kildare and the last game versus Clare. We've made big strides even as recently as the challenges against Down and Cavan. If we've any ambitions to play football in August and beyond then we should win this pulling up.

I'd say aim to be up there for 1ish. Grab a pint or two if possible. Getting a bus up is nearly the handiest option if that's a runner, at least you don't have to worry about parking.

I think Andy's reaction after the Cork game, focusing on the fact that we let a lead slip rather than on the fact that we came from 9 down, has really put a rocket up the players' backsides. I thought he was 100% correct in calling the players out on their inconsistency. Going by his interviews since, I doubt that he has let up on driving consistency home.
If we can put in a 70 minute performance on Sunday, we'll win. Simple as that! Regressing to what we saw against Cork (for the first half), Down and Kildare will see us in trouble.

It was the same last year. People saying the place will be mad busy and hard to get parking etc. If Dublin were playing, yes it would be, but when they are not it isn't. I was up there last year (no more than 1 hour before throw-in) and the church car park was relatively empty. I think I had to turn left to exit it before doing a u-turn of sorts a bit further on to head for home. If parking on the street somewhere just make sure to be facing in the right direction and on the right side of the street for getting away quickly when heading home.

Most teams are rusty first day out in the championship. Louth are over that so I expect things to be much closer than last year. There is no room for complacency as the intensity and momentum built up in the latter stages of the league was two months ago. 8+ weeks is a long time without a match of any significance. The wee fellas outplayed and outmuscled us in the OBC (albeit a somewhat experimental side), so Meath have something to prove.

I'm really looking forward to this summer - I think it will be an interesting adventure. Possibly like 2007 & 2009 without going quite that far in the grand scheme of things.

Just reading through all the possible teams lads have up here and I can't believe that Shane McEntee is on every team,on what basis? It's on form or ability because he lacks in both areas. Although I like a lot of things Andy McEntee has brought to the squad this I can't get over the fact how he has decided no matter what his own son will be on the team no matter what. Ultimately this will cost the team if he's trying to build spirt or togetherness within the squad because the rest of the players aren't stupid and will see they are competing for 14 places on the team.

Yeah I do. I'm leaving from midlands around 11.30 or thereabouts, be there parked hopefully by 1ish , its a mental place to get in and out of, if any of you have read my post on main forum you know what happened last year. So get there early. Its officially a sell out, I have one spare ticket for Stand if anyone needs it, (its a juvenile as little one wont go )

Jesus glas it was a nightmare getting in to ground last year, also it was a sell out, so surely when dubs play its a sell out so both sell outs, now the parking wasn't bad going in, but I was there quite early.

RD, I think you probably just got there too early and they weren't ready for the early birds on a day trip to the big smoke:)

As regards traffic, things tend to flow better when everybody is heading home in the same general direction than when Dublin are playing and people are heading home in all different directions, criss-crossing each others getaway.

There was a good q of about a thousand waiting to get in, it got quite dangerous at times.

Is Patrick Reilly the full back for Louth on Sunday the lad who followed Biggy around the pitch in that game in Drogheda a few years ago?

No, I think it was John O'Brien? Not 100% sure.

his son may not be the most eye-catching player, but he understands his role, works hard and has a great attitude. thought he got better as the league went on. no way would andy play him just because he is his son.

Is the league match that was played in Drogheda in 2014 that you are talking about? It was the last round of league match's. Louth were already relegated. Meath won by a point. That would of been John O Brien that was on Biggy. Patrick Reilly also played in that match. Jobser was one of my fav Louth players in the last ten years. He was nominated for an all star in 2010. He plays with the Sean O Mahoney's in Dundalk who won the Senior Championship in Louth for the very first time last year. The O Mahony's beat Meath's Ballinlough in the Leinster Inter Club Championship in 2014 in Drogheda. It was weird watching a club from Louth wearing green and gold playing against a club in Meath wearing red and white in that final.

Anyone who thinks shane is on team cause he is andys son is off their head. Is James on it cause he is his nephew? Jesus Christ lads, shane has improved game on game and is there on merit and nothing else.

He is definitely improving at wing back. Makes strong runs (good engine), just needs to work on better delivery of ball into the forwards who show for it.
