Both husband and wife passed on within a short space of time. Dick, or Dickie, was a native of Carnaross. He played for his local club and also lined out for Drumbaragh and later Kells. He was good enough to don the county senior jersey and was a member of the Meath panel for a spell during the early 1960's. A brother Noel who moved to nearby Kilskyre, also passed away in 2015.
