Conlon, Seamus

Formerly The Downs, Mullingar, Seamus was an ardent supporter of Simonstown Gaels and was particularly proud of his grandsons, Padraig McKeever and Brian Conlon, who played starring roles in the Navan club's maiden Keegan Cup win last year and their successful defence this year. Brian captained the Meath U-21s this year and subsequently made his senior championship debut in the Leinster SFC defeat to Kildare. Despite the qualifier exit to Donegal, Brian's performance at midfield was one of the positives from a Royal County point of view. Brian's brother Sean and sister Orla also play with Simonstown while 2017 captain Padraig's older brother, Bryan McKeever, won underage medals with the club and is a prominent player with Navan RFC. Seamus' late son, Ciaran (Brian's father) was an outstanding footballer with Simonstown and was a very efficient juvenile chairman at the time of his untimely passing in 2011. Seamus took an active part in running the club's weekly bingo.
