Meath were crowned Leinster U20 / U21 football champions for the first time since 2001 following an impressive 3-13 to 0-12 victory over Louth at Parnell Park last night.

Starting nine of their 2021 All-Ireland minor winning side, the Royals led by 1-6 to 0-6 at half-time thanks to a 23rd minute goal from outstanding wing back Eamonn Armstrong. The goal came in the middle of a scoring burst which also yielded points from Hughie Corcoran, Jack Kinlough, Rían Stafford and Murphy.

Kinlough extended the Royals' advantage after the restart before James Maguire and Pearse Grimes-Murphy replied for a Louth team who failed to replicate their brilliant semi-final display against Dublin at the same venue last week.

But just when the Wee County threatened, Cathal Ó Bric's men rocked them with a second goal from Jamie Murphy after Armstrong had turned provider. Substitute Tadhg Martyn raised a third green flag late on for Meath who will face the winners of the Munster final between Kerry and Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final on the weekend after next.
