Kildalkey's Dan Fagan

Kildalkey 2-17 Na Fianna 3-13

Kildalkey took on Na Fianna in the junior Division 2 on Monday night at home in what turned out to be a very entertaining game.

There wasn’t much between these two teams all night as they traded points all through the game and were level at halftime 0-10 to Kildalkey 1-7 to Na Fianna. Colm Kane got Kildalkey off the mark with a one handed strike as he was being tightly marked Cathal Egan then popped up with a point along with Scott Shelly. Shelly hit 3 frees and wing back Johnny Murray also got in on the act. Egan struck again and the lively Steven Murray hit the last 2 points of the first half as the sides finished level.

Daire Lehart and Ger Geoeghan then entered the fray and Lehart went in wing back as John Murray was pushed up forward.

This had a steadying effect on the team and camogie manager Dan Fagan came on after coming straight over from the camogie match on the main pitch and had a dream start hitting 2 goals with his first 2 touchs of the ball as Kildalkey led by 4 points 2-15 to 2-11 with 5 minutes left but Na Fianna weren’t going to lie down and hit another goal and closed the scoring to a point at one stage but Fagan again with a super point and

Steven Murray hit the last two scores for Kildalkey. Na Fianna shot over the last point but time ran out for them as Kildalkey ran out one point winners 2-17 to 3-13 and remain unbeaten in the competition

Conor McGourty, Cathal O'Sullivan and Cathal Reynolds were great in the full back line. Micheal Potterton was solid at center back while Scott Shelly Egan and Steven Murray all put in massive performances in the forwards and Fagan’s 2-1 from the bench ultimately was the difference as the blues roll on to the next round against St Patrick’s of Stamullen.
