I bet JOULE wished they sponsored the hurlers now instead of the football team ,ahaha ,hurlers showing serious potential at the moment ,Hurling should be priority for Wicklow county board after this weekend,Hurlers keep up the tempo ,your surprising everyone including me ,GAA should look at Wicklow as another county with a lot of Hurling potential,

Hurling is the National Sport of Ireland & here's one for you NOT G FOOTBALL,it never was & to this day still cannot be proved that it's even Irish ,Fermanagh have over 20 clubs & only 1 play Hurling ,50 plus clubs in Tyrone only 5 play hurling ,Leitrim 4 Hurling clubs & 5 in Sligo & Louth ,4 in Longford,Mayo ,Irelands 3rd biggest county have between 2-6 clubs at best Hurling with the same hurling final every year between Tooreen & Ballyhaunis ,Hurling in South Kildare & North Roscommon is non existent & North Carlowfor that matter ,Gaelic Football is not Irish but Hurling is ,the Gaa should pressurise these counties to have all clubs participate in the hurling championships

Carlow will win the Christy Ring this year ,they'll have learnt a lot from the Antrim game & if hurl to form could blow away the other opponents,I still don't think Antrim are good enough just yet to return to the top series

how many clubs are hurling in roscommon overall ,at all levels ,its a county that should be making progress in hurling having Galway so close surely must benefit hurling at least in south roscommon ,like galway it is under achieving on the hurling fields ,what are the county board like ,

Cavan has 41 gaa clubs with a population of 76,092 ,Kilkenny 42 gaa clubs with a population of just over 88,000 people ,Gaelic football is play at Absolutely every level ,From Cumann Na Mbunschol to u-12 all the way to minor ,3 divisions in men's football,Senior ,intermediate & junior ,if you doubt what I'm saying then just log on to the Kilkenny website regularly & you'll see this is true ,almost all of these 42 clubs play in one of these football championships,so now can you come back to me & enlightened me as to why Cavan GAA cannot do the same for Hurling,

Replying To lawdan: "Longford in predominantly a football county in the same way Kilkenny, Tipperary, Limerick etc etc are hurling counties. Longford footballers had a game called off earlier in the year to save the pitch for the Tipperary hurlers. That's just the way it is,build a bridge and get over it." Its attitudes like yours which has kept Hurling from growing in Longford & other counties,do yourself a big favour & start thinking outside the box & even get involved in turning this great sport into a stronger game for all Irish ,remember this ,Hurling is Irish not just Kilkenny cork & the stronger ones ,go for a nice walk & really think about your attitude towards Hurling & you might see that your not helping with such negative behaviour,Hurling for all of Ireland

Replying To mowin.bar.down: "Having watch my own county win its league title on Saturday I was able to pick a game on the Sunday to go see . I figured that on the league Sunday programme that evening I would get all the top matches on TV.
So having been to the league match in Pierce park a few weeks ago I decided to venture up north for the re-match between Longford and Warwickshire and boy did I get it right .
I knew that the last day Warwickshire were holding back and they expected to go to town in the re-match with Watson and company .
Well did they get an eye opener . Firstly the game was an epic ,neither willing to give way . it ebbed and flowed both teams having their so called purple patches .
But when it was over the men from Longford where victorious and the really did deserve it . They just were not accepting defeat and its not as if Warwickshire were not trying , they through everything they had at Longford and still didn't win .
What a joy it must have been at full time after extra time to be victorious with the players families and close friends there for the cup presentation." Delighted for Hurling & its little support in Longford,I seen them against Warwickshire in Ratoath a couple of years back & indiscipline cost them that same day ,I seen them this year in Pearse park against Fermanagh on a vercold raw day with little to no support in the ground & Longford just dug in the same day & again just refused to be beaten,so the attitude of this present team is huge change from 2 years ago ,Longford County Board needs to help hurling turn a corner because the hurlers are certainly doing their best ,congratulations LONGFORD HURLING

HURLING IS THE NATIONAL SPORT OF IRELAND NOT FOOTBALL,Hurling Should be promoted 1st end of story & if Hurling was British or American it would be a huge sport in terms of promotion & revenue,the same cannot be said for football
