You know what I'd like to see. An option to block certain posters, ...like katser. Nothing but a sx!x stirring troll. And a well fed troll unfortunately.

Quite an ignorant post from an ignorant poster. Just used a KK match I remember, never said the frees weren't deserved. Getting insulted for being a yank by someone living here.

Supermac's Call For Investigation Into Galway GAA Sponsorship Spending - 4 Like(s)

Replying To yew_tree:  "Bit unfair on Pat McDonagh there who is a great Galway and GAA man, although I can see a ban coming on fast food sponsorship just like ciggrates and alcohol being rolled out eventually."
as it should be. It makes me cringe every time I see better sponsors for the numerous YouTube/podcast analysis shows that have become quite numerous. Feel for Galway GAA fans & participants who just want to hurl, & hopefully bring some silverware home. Embezzlement and or complete incompetence shouldn't diminish your pride. Stealing, in any way from any amateur sporting organization is despicable & as haa been said, good accounting & oversight of those put in those positions in needed. As are criminal background checks, if not already. So, true fans, hold your head high, support club & county in the most efficient way you see fit. Get involved or just bring positive 'whatever' you chose. Their VERY talented, ...and successful(youth & camogie & club to come) hurlers, Footballers & Camogie players give so much & don't deserve to be dragged through the mud. nor supporters. Galway has honest people who love and support their County. Support them & MAKE SURE THE GOOD DON'T GET TOSSED UNDER THE BUS. Otherwise, good luck to Galway.

Does Anybody Give A S**T About Hurling Classic? - 4 Like(s)
No. ...and I live under an hour from Fenway or 2.5-3 to NY & I'd rather have been at either of the two leinster matches yesterday let alone today's. Most frustrating parts are listening to Donal Og who turns into a babbling idiot when here & that terrible no point taking game when there are full size pitches, historic ones at that. I was tempted as a KK fan this year but still couldn't be bothered.

Irish Rugby Must Look To GAA's Top Talent For A Brighter Future - 3 Like(s)

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/international/irish-rugby-must-look-to-gaa-s-top-talent-for-a-brighter-future-1.4056933 In his post mortem on the failure of the Irish team in the Rugby World Cup, Gavin Cummiskey writes.... "...What is more apparent than ever before is if the IRFU ever hope to live with the All Blacks of this sport then they must rip a leaf out of the AFL book of recruitment and enhance the head-hunting of the GAA's underage talent. Certainly more than the softly, softly, approach currently employed...." "......The " freaks" (best talent) can be found inside this island's most fiercely protected strongholds, Kilkenny hurling and Kerry football, who periodically gift rugby delicious crumbs like Willie Duggan or Mick Galwey. Cork possesses thousands of gifted athletes who never get anywhere near the oval ball. The O'Alpin brothers from Fiji were just as athletic as Sevu Reece. Sean Og still works in the bank. Setanta settled in Sydney...." "....If you want to find a line of Jack Goodhues or Barrett brothers then scout the Laois juvenile football scene. Roscommon has plenty more Jack Cartys. Otherwise forget about living with any generation of All Blacks...." "..... So, more talent is needed from untapped genetic pools. Hurlers. It won't be solved before 2023 but, clearly, if the GAA can cope with AFL cherry picking, they shouldn't be bothered by the IRFU ramping up their recruitment of teenagers." Comments?"
Those quotes disgust me.

After GAA, Your Second Favourite Sport - 2 Like(s)
I used to be an NFL & MLB fan but it's so hard to truly be a fan after discovering GAA. my reasoning is I found it too difficult to keep interested in my two local teams, Pats & Sox because from season to season the teams change so drastically. My favorite players would be on whatever team could afford them & it just seemed pointless in being a fan of a team. It bothered me to a point but it wasn't until I was exposed to club & IC hurling years ago that I essentially stopped watching pro sports in America. especially due to the insane amount of commercials. I still go to visit my Dad to watch the Pat's from time to time but it's more about spending time with him as he yells at the TV. Thankfully, he waits long enough so that we can skip the commercials and halftime making it tolerable. Having a tough time w/next favorite sport but after hurling it would be collegiate/HS wrestling & non Olympic international competitions. Recently I have become a judo fan as it's similar to my particular style of wrestling(in years past). I will say that IMO, the GAA needs to finally do away with the provincial competitions, Walsh Cup, & restructure the championship.

Is Hurling Now Becoming Boring? - 2 Like(s)

Replying To PeggyShippen:  "It is becoming more boring. The long range shooting is not a novelty anymore. It's not exciting. There is some great fielding and passing which wasn't as strong in the 90s. There is zero ground hurling now or overhead pulling. Kilkenny helped kill that off unfortunately with their traditional game eschewing ground strokes or over head pulls ruling the roost. We all more or less play like Kilkenny now, less of a clash of styles. There will need to be a forum nationally to decide where we want the game to go. Lacrosse is more fun to watch and play at the moment. Iv been following it on espn"
Lacrosse!! More fun to watch?? To each their own but a more elitist field game short of Polo you'll not find. It's, in my opinion, a horribly boring game. Field hockey is better. Real hockey is better. Hurling shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Growing up not far from Beantown(Boston), no public schools that I was aware of(maybe a few in the richest towns but not sure of that). Lacrosse can't hold a candle to hurling although I firmly believe hurling needs a heavier sliotar, minimum 5oz as well as two refs as one can not do the job, the game is too fast. Again, whatever you enjoy is the right game and nobody says we can't enjoy more than one. I would suggest to those who are not fans of 110'+ frees/sidelines, too many ducks, etc., to watch Camogie and the best competition, Fitzgibbon Cup hurling. I find Camogie very enjoyable without any of the negatives of the senior IC game. Nothing's perfect but I'm very grateful to have found Hurling thanks to a great friend from TTown / Gowran.

Are you saying panic is a good answer? Panic is what I fear most from this. I trust the elderly in my family to use common sense & will help them in any way possible but I am blown away by the media & the public's reaction. Panic never helped anything. I do hope for the best for all of you and your families whether we completely agree or not.

The Sunday Game - Awful Coverage - 1 Like(s)
Gotta love these idiots, guy being fouled by 3 players & the commentators talk about ferocious defending ??? ...only to have the ref blow for over-carrying on the guy w/both arms held nearly behind his back. Dropping or attempting to boot it being the only option. Most consistent thing this year is the inconsistencies of every refereeing 'performance'(too much yapping in their ears me thinks). Can't judge refs too harsh until there are 2 officials on the pitch.

Lol. Guess I'm just a dumb yank who couldn't possibly be a real fan nor know anything of the game. Apparently it also automatically elevates you & your opinions on sport above mine & excuses your behavior. I do my best when posting here to be polite & level headed. I may fail from time to time, be wrong other times but never go out to blatantly instigate or troll other posters.

Replying To Oldtourman:  "Dont mind him Yank. He has retained a bitter rant against Limerick since Galway lost to them in the final almost twelve months ago and routinely trolls contributors from other counties. Many of us now believe he is not even a Galway follower at all, as nobody, but nobody, would want to show that even one person from their own county was such a poor loser. We have reason to believe he is a Clare man, who has not 'come out' as a Banner man"
Thanks Oldtourman ;-) Enjoy the weekend as best you can. I don't think many hurling fans doubt you'll be back.

Diving In Hurling - 1 Like(s)
I'd dive too after being mauled by 3-5 spare hands, knowing it won't be blown or more likely to be blown for over-carrying. I can't fathom how you get called for over-carrying when you're essentially being held in a full-nelson. To the person saying Colin Fennelly is a diver? WHAT? Now that R. Power is gone Colin is the most fouled, dragged back hurler in the game. Eoin Larkin was also a huge target but Colin is nearly always fouled & rarely is on the ground so not sure where the diving accusations come from. Refs are terrible across the board but till there's 2 on the pitch, they'll never be able to do their job. Even wrestling has 2 refs!

The Sunday Game - Awful Coverage - 1 Like(s)

Replying To supermon:  "No you cannot use the same logic. Barret was attempting to play the ball. In the Official Guide its dealt with under Rule 5 aggressive foul. The rule I would say is 5.5 using the hurley in a careless manner. The penalfy for this is a yellow card. Its a category 1 infraction. I'm not sure if he got a yellow for it, but he definitely should have. Hogan's incident is catered for under 5.16 to strike or attempt to strike and opponent with arm, elbow, hand or knee. That's what happened. He hit him in the head with his elbow. It's a category 3 offence and the penalty is a red card."
According to the rules, what should John McG have seen in the semi for his late late & far off the ball strike to the Wexford lads midsection? Honestly as you seem to know. Not trying to stir anything, I'm just curious if it was a red card offense but was given a 2nd yellow instead. Thx

Replying To PyatPree:  "Problem is that they they changed both hurling and football formats but kept the same amount of games in tv rights, I think it's time they sell an extra package to show more games"
Streaming is the only answer & now that you can't even find, non-"smartv Tv's" it's the only answer. Also it only costs a few bucks to turn your old TV into one you can stream to. That's what I do for GAAGO etc. But unlike the terrible GAAGO football & hurling should be separate packages/subscriptions.

" The Brick" - 1 Like(s)
Best wishes to a true gentleman, & a teak tough one at that. I'm KK all the way but you'd have to just be a bitter, biased, xxxx to not have respect for MBW. In the run up to the '17 final the talk of Joe Canning not getting a Celtic Cross before retirement would be a shame, & sure, there's truth to that. Canning is class & was finally playing consistently but there was no mention of Brick who IMO deserved it as much or more. Granted many a fantastic hurler/athlete has never earned top honors, that's sport, but Brick was totally ignored in that conversation. I'd have Brick over Joe any day. Not taking anything away from the freakishly athletic JC. All that aside I wish him a happy post IC life & doubt that we've seen the last of him. He seems like the perfect guy to get into coaching & management. I thank you from & for America for all the years of enjoyment you brought to our screens & radios. Looking forward to the Tg4 LG episode of the Brick. thx again.

Is Now The Time For Brian Cody To Step Down? - 1 Like(s)

Replying To Trump2020:  "Just Joking of course. I hope I got a ride out of someone. Ha ha ha. In losing I still think Brian Cody did his best ever job of managing. More of a legend in my mind than before. Congratulations to Tipp Seniors and Galway Minors. Bad day for Kilkenny but they'll be back."
Joking aside, no. If Eddie had been by his side a couple years( imagining the impossibility that he was already after accumulating his current level of experience(could've, would've, should've, ...if), + a couple yrs w/Brian. In those circumstances, then yes, this or a couple more. On the other hand, the current drought('16-'19) has produced 2 AI Finals appearances. While this is the perfect age profile to hand off I think the narrow description & high bar in KK of an acceptable replacement to Brian make this a hugely complicated task w/the the necessary combination of experience & talent w/which to mine & guide, @ highest levels, the very skillful youth coming through. Not to mention mold the best of the old w/the the new, w/out rewriting the script entirely. Henry will always be there or thereabouts in the discussion. Great duo! Got quite a beating today but congratulations to all the hurlers today.
