Joe Brolly Finished With RTE - 12 Like(s)
Joe Brolly is box office has to be one of the dumbest comments I regularly hear when it comes to making excuses for his poor punditry. I know we're living in the age of Trump, when truth and facts seem to mean much less than a good sound bite but when it comes to an All Ireland final or a GAA match in general, I just want to hear honest analysis based on reality and facts, not agenda driven spin and winding up fellow pundits just for the sake of it. The players are box office and if they're not entertaining enough for you, then maybe in truth, you really just aren't that interested in the game.

Kerry Vs Tyrone - 9 Like(s)

Replying To The_Fridge:  "I see its not on TV. I wonder if Kerry GAA do a live stream? Tyrone GAA did a few games last year, they would make alot of money if they did."
All the Dublin games will be shown live and the only Kerry game scheduled to be shown live is their game against Dublin. Not sure for Tyrone. We're all equal officially of course but some are more equal than others. Money talks.

Who Are Dublins Challenger Now? - 7 Like(s)
Dublin have no challenger any more. Dublin are moving away out on their own completely. Maybe after this season the scales will lift from more eyes with regards the future of football at All Ireland senior level. This is not a stand alone Dublin side organically coming to a peak with an end of life cycle hoping to go to the well one more time and win a 5 in a row. It's not a bit like the Kerry side in 1982 that were the same squad and especially first 15 year in and out for 5 continuous years or like the Kilkenny team in 2010 that had massive collective mileage too. What sets Dublin apart from Kerry 82' and Kilkenny 10' is this Dublin team is continually hitting the re-set button and regenerating at rate no other side can match. The Dublin senior squads - not squad - I mean squads - are getting younger, stronger and even more professional and efficient by the year. Dublin will cruise onto a 5 in a row. Let's talk about six baby will be the cry soon enough! The lack of genuine competition will eventually even effect the most staunch of Dublin supporters, the fun and drama will go out of it soon enough. Mark my words.

Well done Galway? I wonder is Aidan O'Shea playing the wrong sport? He looks every inch more a rugby union player to me and probably more to suited to that game. Kicked a lovely ball into touch in the first half but shame it's the wrong game.

Replying To wfkerry:  "Whats ye view on Conor Cox should Peter have giving him a chance i know he had a few runs in the league before looking at the Rossie games he os built like a tank very accurate a big plus to the Rossies i think he could have done a job for Kerry im only looking from afar i would like yer take on it"
Nothing at all to do with Peter K as a manager, so go put the blame somewhere else. Peter had no opportunity to give Conor Cox a chance with Kerry. Conor had his mind made up to go to Roscommon this season even before Peter Keane came into the Kerry job. It wasn't like Connor just decided one night to go with Roscommon, a lot of thought and planning went into the decision. Under Fitzmaurice, Cox was given a very short and limited opportunity with Kerry. Cox will always put scores consistently on the board and you couldn't say that about every forward who was involved under Fitzmaurice or even currently in the squad.

Donegal's Motion Fails - 4 Like(s)
As a Kerryman and being completely selfish, I'm more than happy to play Dublin all they want to in our national stadium of Croke Park and I actually prefer this. Moreover, Kerry have zero fear of playing Dublin in Croke Park or wherever but that's not what this issue is about. Although it would be fun if Dublin came down to Killarney some summer for a high stakes super 8 match (perhaps some day), and i still have those great memories of when we played the Dubs in Semple Stadium for a quarter final. Leaving county allegiance aside and taking a helicopter view here, all this is really about money. 'Ah think, about the poor people and children who can't see the game' - really? How stupid does Costello think people are? Obviously, quite stupid. This is all about bringing more money in for the GAA at the end of the day and nothing to do with fairness. At least a true blue Dub like Paddy Cullen can admit it's an unfair advantage and I think most decent and honest people can all agree it's an unfair advantage, despite the crowing on these boards. I think Mayo's Kevin McStay put it well. McStay dismissed the notion that playing a big championship game in the 9,000-capacity Parnell Park would see too many supporters miss out. "What happens if Halifax Town are playing Manchester United in round six of the FA Cup?" he argued. "There's live TV now. Nobody will not get to see the game." Your right Kevin but think of all that money that would be missed out on. Greed is number one and fairness is an after thought. PS: Congress, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, to hell with fairness, vote against this and we'll look after you, sort you out with a grant or what not.

is that the same Kerry squad of 82 ,that were out on there feet , who went on to complete another treble 84-86 ?"]The Kerry team of 78-82 were past their peak years when they won those All Irelands between 84-86, some had gone but the young blood that was added such as Ambrose O'Donovan, Willie Maher, John Kennedy and Timmy Down brought a huge energy and freshness that helped get them over the line. The 3-in row added onto the 4 in row was a remarkable achievement. This Dublin football senior team is far from peaking because it's forever changing - big difference and you know it!

Replying To TheUsername:  "Think this game will be won and lost in the kick out strategy, Patton isn't the easy target Clarke is on kick outs, in fact he is in line for an All Star in my opinion, he had developed a unique style of accuracy and speed at a low height and really evolved the kick out following on from Cluxton and Beggan. Given that I can't see Kerry winning as much ball high up the field and midfield as they did yesterday. Without that foundation Kerry might struggle triggering their forwards, while their defense may be that bit more under pressure and will need to step up. That said Donegal looked a bit shaken with the running game yesterday. So who can ever get the better of the kick outs, wins ball and can trigger their forwards and wins procession in the main comes home with the two points for me. This game will hinge on those aspects. Your all very welcome to the City, enjoy!! ;)"
Yeah, we're all looking forward to travelling to Dublin's home pitch. Amazing what home comforts can do for a team, isn't it? Ah well, Donegal and Kerry both now in the same boat next weekend by playing on a neutral ground, the way it should be, the right way, with honour. Jeez, imagine what Kerry could win if we played every single game in Killarney?

Replying To Horsebox77:  "Oh god no Gerry, I wouldn't have him within the extended panel, Junior level at a push, a hard push. All current panel members are well ahead of him on capabilities. Still hats off for making the driver with the Rossies - but no wouldn't be involved at home in our local set up."
I don't agree with this at all and you can't prove it either. Conor Cox was brilliant for the Kerry juniors and won an All Ireland with them and his scoring return with his club was outstanding. Do you seriously think a natural scoring forward like Conor Cox would not give a higher scoring return rate over a season than say a Stephen O'Brien, Mickey Geaney, or Kevin McCarthy if given the same game time and opportunity? Not that those guys are not fine players in their own right but better score getters than Conor Cox - where's the evidence? Maybe I'm too old school but a forwards primiary job is to put scores on the board. Perhaps the others train harder, run harder and tackle harder but in a Championship game of consequence I'll take my chances with a scoring forward like Conor Cox over those names any day to put points on the board and win a game.

Jack Mccaffrey - 3 Like(s)
Clearly very much his own man, McCaffrey might come back again or maybe not. Regardless, Jack McCaffrey has nothing more to prove really, and will go down as one of the best halfbacks in the history of the game and one of the best footballers of the past decade for sure. A fantastic footballer and a loss to our game for sure. Not only a great footballer but an intelligent man and seems a really decent human being. Good luck to him!

Dublin kicked 20 points with 17 scores coming from play against a team that was defensively really well set up. They just picked up another Leinster trophy and are comfortably through to another All Ireland semifinal. Now that's not a bad days work.

Naas were a bigger outfit physically, they absolutely cleaned PCD in midfield. They were quite wasteful in front of the posts and PCD were lucky it wasn't a hammering tbh. Just wasn't to be."
Agree, I watched it too. Naas missed a penalty in the first half and could quite easily have been in for at least 3 goals in the second half on occasion but took points and kept pushing the scoreboard out. They looked winners from a long way out in the second half and the final score flattered PCD.

Replying To The_Biler:  "AOS dirty kick in the air missed by ref"
Can't believe the pundits post-match didn't mention it after the Iive game or on the Sunday Game. It was reckless and highly dangerous to Spillane who required stitches to the head. I saw it live and couldn't believe it but when I watched it back this morning it only confirmed that AOS was way out of line. If it was a Kerry player McStay would quite rightly have highlighted the act and demanded justice. I don't care what team you support it is unacceptable.

Well done to Corofin! A truly great football team and the best club team in Ireland, no doubt about it! To win back to back All Ireland titles at club level is a mark of true greatness. Enjoy the celebrations - well deserved! Dr Crokes are Kerry's best club team and today does not change that fact. However, they will have no excuses over this result because they were so comprehensively outplayed by just a far superior side.

A distraction tactic - nothing more! Tyrone players present and former have been singing all week it seems, first at the orange community then moving onto the green&gold. Nice try Sean but people in glasshouses or on buses shouldn't be throwing stones or singing sectarian songs.

Dublin v Mayo - All Ireland Football Final 2016 - 2 Like(s)
Congratulations to Dublin! You are a great team. Apart from Mayo's Rob Hennelly, my sympathy for Mayo starts and stops with their magnificent support. This Mayo team had every advantage going for them going into this game and during 2016. Losing Connacht allowed them to regenerate and perfect their defensive strategies through the back door series. Entering the All Ireland series they were probably the team in best-prepared condition. They met a tired looking Dublin team in the final. A Dublin team who have been on a long hard road after winning an All Ireland in 2015 and following it up with another league title. Furthermore, my view is that Mayo met a Dublin team who clearly had already peaked in 2016 because they had to peak to beat Kerry. Even when the Mayo management clearly had a massive brain fart and dropped goalkeeper Clarke in favour of Hennelly, the ref actual did them a massive turn with the black card. Basically Mayo had a dotted line all the way to the finish line, if they were actually going enough to win it in 2016? They weren't. There are no excuses for Mayo and I still think they lack enough quality scoring forwards. At the end of the day, this is a magnificent Dublin team and certainly the best Dublin team I've seen in my lifetime. Well Done to the Jack's, enjoy it lads!
