New manager candidates

Shelbourne - that's a load of rubbish. We may not have the best forwards in the country but we put 14 points on you boys and should have won!!

Anyway, I think McGuinness is committed to Celtic lads and has first team involvement now so that wouldn't be a runner. I would love to see McStay in, maybe with McHale who has good knowledge of the players. Bring back Keating, Givney and Clarke and Clark and we would be in with every chance of winning an Ulster in the next year or 2. We have quality here and don't bite (like I just did) to Monaghan trolls and others from elsewhere... Their obsession with Cavan continues. You'd think they would be more worried about Michael Murphy, McBrearty and the likes!!

James Horan could be a good appointment, talk about mcStay and mcHale but I'd like to know what McHale brought to the panel this year? Oisin mcConville could be an interesting choice if we were to go for someone new to management, tony McEntee had crossmaglen playing great football don't know if he could get Cavan playing like that, be great if he could

Yes, another excellent candidate. Coaching the Kerry minors at the minute I believe. Hell of a long way to travel though, doubt he would be tempted.

Chill out there Reformation & take a happy pill !...can't solve a problem until you recognise what problem is in first place namely Cavan have no forwards whatsoever & none in pipeline.
As regards a new manager.....I'm a Celtic supporter as well as a Monaghan supporter (isn't life bountiful!) and no way is McGuinness a runner. What about Ally McCoist........he's on gardening leave & he certainly knows how to park a Bus or 2 !

No to Joe Kiernan , Mick O ' Dwyer and Jack O' Connor . There are many workin Kerry that feel O' Connor cost Kerry more all Ireland's .

Tony McAntee knows his stuff and would be good . I'd love though for you's to get James Horan . If Jim wasn't at Celtic , I think he'd go because he loves the ulster champo and it's not a million miles travelling . There will be good days ahead for Cavan .

Unless they find a crock of gold under the main stand all the above names are off the menu, CB just about making repayments on breffni development cost and the word is all clubs are going to be hit with higher repayments/contributions to facilitate the loan over the next 5 years.

County Board in huge debt. Seems going to New York and London cost a bit.
So if they dont pay for a good manager they are going nowhere so the future is far from blue

Hyland has done a good job and hes a good honest man but its time for a change.. Ciaran Whealan Hit the nail on the head last night with his analysis. Too many times the management have been outdone in tight games. In tight games management always come off 2nd best. John Evans who is an average manager looks like Jose Morinhuo every time he enters brefni. We need a shrewder tactician who can turn us into a smarter team with more guile. How many times this year have we had players sent off?? Cavan is a very attractive team for any manager. All the names there look good. What about Pat Gilroy? all ireland winning manager. What about stealing Pete Mcgrath off Fermanagh you wonder what he could do with more resources. ?

Ciaran Whelan, greater reader of game, analyst , commands respect, travel from Dublin easily, Cavan would be good on his CV when he eventually takes the Dubs. We have the players we just have not got them on the field altogether at the same time, simple as! Well impressed listening to him last night.

I'm not a great admirer of Hyland since he became Senior Manager but I respect why he did. Maybe we should leave this thread alone until he does resign or whatever. Think he deserves that much respect even by the anti Hyland brigade . We need change its gone stale but maybe out of respect we should leave this thread until there a vacancy for a manager!

Dom corrigan cavan gaels is a good manager did well with Fermanagh and a lot of ulster teams took clontibret in monaghan to ulster semi final and Fermanagh managers seems to be the coolest move at the minute ie Donegal and monaghan

I believe Tony McEntee or Peter Canavan are the County board's top two candidates that will be interviewed when Terry stands down.(Probably within next week)

Canavan with lots of inter county experience and a recent u21 all ireland winner as selector with tyrone would work wonders with young players.very smart along the line also with great training methods.

Mcentee old style training and modern day tactics would suit cavan.proven winner along the line and will take no guff from players.very smart head on him and would probably be joined by Gareth O'Neill

I believe the county board are also keen to have the best players in the county playing with the team.

It's make or break time for Cavan football and the CB want no stone left unturned regarding players that should be on panel.exciting times ahead.

You can get anyone in but with an average group of players what are peoples real expectations. Hyland has done a super job in terms of consolidating cavan Gaa he deserves a lot of credit for that progress has been made compared to 4 years ago ... A lot of people need a reality check ....
From Saturday we found out r Flanagan is wasted corner forward argue is far too soft for full forward and overall McDermott won't get too many scores this has been shown over the whole year... Why would anyone high profile want to take this job.... Defence was shocking roscommon walked in everytime we are too soft and it's evident Alan Clarke is missed .... The only one that might make a difference cavan have no forwards and let's be honest Seanie is finished couldn't make an impact in an average kildare team .... Givney can't make the ballymun starting team .... So does anyone think we can compete with donegal ???? WE ARE MILES OFF

Don't want to be too negative it's an opinion as I see it but look that's it ....
Now roll onto one of the worst county championship in Ireland and people are saying we should be challenging for ulsters get a grip
