Belturbet were made to look very good. Kill defence a shock.
Ballyhaise going well with Tierney back.
Whats the predictions for the 4 games in the back door.
When are these been played??

Intermediate qualifier games to played the weekend of 15th/16/th/17th of August. The Senior Championship 1st round games are due to take place the same weekend so i doubt any of them qualifier games will take place in Breffni!

In my view theres one team to be stopped and its Belturbet...Cootehill have had their chance in 2009 and 2012 and i feel they let it slip in 2012 and although they have some talented young players they have alot of players who have alot of high mileage...Ballyhaise cant be relied on to put a few pound on as ive lost money on them down the years....But i have a sneaky feelin Laragh will cause a major upset and get to the final if they avoid the Rories.

Was massively impressed with Beltubet, but in saying that Kill were truely dreadful. Don't think I have seen a worst team in the Intermediate Championship in all my years watching, but to still score 8 goals was hugely impressive.
Really jeering for Ballyhaise this year, think they have what it takes this year, speciallly with Tierney flying now. Think they have a championship in them and I reckon its their year. As for Cootehill, I wasn't impressed with them atall. Drung put it up to them big time and they were poor enough against a poor poor Cavan Gaels team. I see they had a couple of new faces though, wether they have a few players injured or not I am not sure. Think they have a whole new half back line in comparison to the last few years with the exception of Josh Hayes. Think they have missed their chances the last few years.

Good win for Ballyhaise last wknd over Killygarry in the breffni league final. They seem to be keeping the momentum going. Will be hard stopped if they can continue that form.

No sense in the Gaels playing intermediate. They are a poor Division 3, team and their spell of under age dominace is over.

In fairness to you I would've agreed on the first two predictions but went against you on the other two. Out of all the championship results at the weekend perhaps the biggest shock was Mountnugent beating Swad after the hammering that Ballyhaise gave them in the first round. Maybe Swad took Mountnugent too lightly but they'll be very disappointed to be out so early as they would've expected to at least reach the quarter finals with the quality that they have. Does anyone know if Killian Clarke will be home at the end of the summer? If so then Shercock could well be a force yet if they're still involved in the championship when he returns. I don't see any of the teams in the "back door" draw going the distance but stranger things have happened. Ballyhaise and Belturbet are well ahead of the rest for me and would be my idea of the final pairing provided they don't meet each other beforehand. Does anyone know if the rule that prevents the Gaels been relegated to junior is in place this year also? Based on results this year I think Kill, Swad and Butlersbridge would fancy their chances of avoiding the drop if the Gaels were involved in the relegation play-offs.

I have to say lads i got it wrong this time. Thought Swad would have bet Mountnugent but Mountnugent must have got a bit of heart and with G injured came away with the win, fair play. Shercock are a great side and have a brill half back line & killian coming back to them now is a great boast.

How can the gaels not be in the relegation battle, if this is the case then they shouldn't be playing in the competition.??
Is this true??

The Gaels were not allowed to play in the Junior championship by the junior clubs/county board.

Drung v Shercock and Drumlane v Mountnugent this weekend the two victors will join Bailieboro, Ballyhaise, Belturbet, Cootehill, Killinkere, Laragh in the Quarter Finals, the Draw is this Sunday I believe, Belturbet favourites in my eyes closely followed by Ballyhaise and Cootehill possibly Bailieboro, dark horses beaten finalist from last year Shercock (they have to beat Drung to qualify).

Can anyone explain to me how Cavan Gaels intermediate team are not in the relegation play-offs. They won no matches and there is only three teams in the playoffs Butlersbridge, swadlibar and Kill. Why not four and have a proper play-off. Swad even won a match during the year. Reading the comments above others posters reckon they were very poor and not up to the standard.
