This is how I think the league will go for Cavan if I was being optimistic Cavan or Meath could swap places easily. Can we realistically hope for much more? Staying up would be a good achievement with a new manager in place I think.

1. Donegal
2. Cork
3. Armagh
4. Kildare
5. Cavan
6. Meath
7. Fermanagh
8. Louth

I (and Raymond Galligan ) would take that in a heartbeat… I am just wondering why people are totally dismissing Louth as no hopers…they came within a win of getting promoted last season. Maybe they will struggle this season but I'm sure they will target the Cavan game as one they're hoping to win… I certainly wouldn't discount them…

Division 2 is not nearly as strong as last year with Dublin and Derry. Cork are very poor or average at best kildare are very inconsistent its the worst meath team i have seen in years with their worst manager down should have hammered them in the tailteann cup final last year. The problem is where are Cavan at on the mckenna cup showing all the old campaigners that are still there seemed to have gone seriously backwards with very few of the new faces apart from Brady from killagary showing well. Donegal are by far the stand out team in the division and i expect them to seriously threaten Derry this year and to compete for sam in the next 2 to 3 years. its important that we avoid a serious hammering from them in the first game and then with a bith of luck anything is possible i think at worst we will stay in division 2.

My own twopence worth
1. Donegal
2. Armagh
3. Kildare
4. Cavan
5. Meath
6. Cork
7. Fermanagh
8. Louth

I'm unconvinced by Cork and think they'll struggle away from home. Cavan will still be in with a shout for promotion at the last few but I think they'll come up short. Hopefully I'm wrong, though.

From watching the two games against Derry n Down, two things are clear. The team are certainly playing faster ball, and seem to be trying to attack quicker. The other is that Midfield n Kickouts are a worry, moving Faulkner out is obviously needed, but Cavan could be weak in these areas. With 4 away games, again, its going to be very tricky. I think its 4 out out of 20 years Cavan have been 4 away in league. Mad! Cavan are now on the way up, after been on the way down. The only county team to be in 6 different divisions last 6 years. Players are there, games will be very tight, goals are needed and believe the team have enough to be safe. Fantastic to be involved in Championship. Hoping players, and especially Oisín Brady gets support, and a few new players settle in well. Good luck to Ray! See you in Carlow

Are you ok… what is this fantastic to be involved in the championship all about…? And by the way this is the 9th different division in 9 years …

we may not be involved in the championship there is an outside chance that we will be in the tailteann cup again this year depending on results elsewhere.

If we stay up we likely are, due to the odd circumstances from last year not being likely to happen. Unlikely to see a Division 3 or 4 team reaching a final again with stacked draw like Sligo last year, while you'd expect Meath as Tailteann winners to stay up. Staying in Division 2 a must obviously, and should see us into Sam

Unfortunately, we need to finish in 5th or higher. I think we will, by the way. Cork and Kerry are on the same side of the draw in Munster. A div 3 or 4 team will therefore be in the Munster final. As well, Meath can finish below us and won't be in the Tailteann cup.

Even with that, it ends up being 1st and 2nd in 3rd division who end up getting pushed out. Like us last year. Finishing 6th minimum should still be OK for us, lest a weird variety of circumstance happens

Folks, don't know if Paraic Farrelly was among us here, but he has passed away. A long time Cavan GAA
fan, club and county, he was a knowledgeable stats man on twitter and such. Wouldn't surprise me if he had a profile here at some stage. Be badly missed. A good man. RIP Paraic

Should you not have to win the tailteann cup to move into the Sam maguire lol thought you would be advocating this with Arva ;)

Huge game this weekend especially with a rejuvenated Donegal coming to town in our 2nd match… 0pts after 2 games would really put us under pressure… I think we need something from this game Saturday…

Faulkner and Holla joint captains for the year. Not sure on the joint thing tbh (doesn't work too great in rugby) but 2 top lads either way. Congrats to both, you don't get tougher boys who bleed blue

Relax Forever blue, you don't hold the keys to the kingdom! Just expressing an opinion. Thought all teams aim is to be in All Ireland Senior Championship. Hoping Cavan give it some on Saturday

So team for tomorrow is out. Strong team. McVeety and Holla back in, which instantly makes us look better. Can't see the team starting as named, or at least there will be a lot of positional changes. No Maddens starting though. Cian not named, Tiarnan on the bench. James Smith is starting, while James Galligan misses out (heard he has a tweak?). Bench looks good too so have options there too if we need to switch things up.

Really think we can take this. Yet another away game to start, and 4 away games overall (which seems to be yearly for us now), but it's really an away game for them too. Yeah they've played there a few times, but it's nothing like as tight as Newbridge. Time for us to break this poor record vs them. They're not going great guns either, so no reason not to. We've gone strong so we need it. We seem to be able to score based on McKenna Cup games, so need defence to step up now. Best of luck lads

Our main aim is to stay in Division 2 and if it results in us qualifying for the group stages for the All Ireland well and good…. If we finish 6th and end up in the Taltainn Cup I would have no problem with that either just as long as we stay up…!
