I was not at game last night but i cant believe how any ref would have passed the pitch safe for playing on after last nights deluge.

The same thing happened last w/e with Knockbride v Cootehill… Called off on Friday because pitch unplayable, rain most of Saturday but ref told to play the game regardless of conditions…at same venue madness.. CB have no respect for club football.. it's all about county.. for all the good that's been doing…!

Crazy that Killygarry got relegated, after getting to a Senior final last year. A decent team out on paper as well. Lacken dab hands at staving off relegation though in these playoff games

An interesting stat is we have have 2 Junior teams regarded as division 1 teams for at least another week and the county finalists a division 2 side.

That's interesting alright. Suppose we will always have some Senior and Junior teams in Division 2 as movement will always happen like that, but is a bit odd that Junior teams made it to Division 1. Might be a thing that Arva got caught a few years back and would likely have been a better team than junior only for relegation and missing important players.

Also asks the wider question that with 2 up 2 down to each Division, there's scope for more movement than Championship, and always a risk that a good teams gets caught in a grade. like Ballyhaise in Intermediate even though they compete with Senior teams. Just can't get over the line in finals. Could there be a case for redrawing of teams? I recall Crosserlough applying to go up years back and they did so without winning intermediate...

Should we also maybe be redrawing annually based on Championship? Think Monaghan might do this

Xlough lost the intermediate semi final that year, and then applied to rejoin senior. Ballinagh were relegated from senior and also asked to rejoin too, a few years before that

We kinda did, probably wouldn't have happened if Cian and Oisin were in town. Good to see we don't live rent free in your head

That's right, recall that now. Although is around the time we had a very bloated Senior Championship at 16 (even 17 at one point?). Good it's down to 12 now

Weren't Killygarry boasting last year about all the numbers they had and didnt they have 3 men's teams not that long ago? Weren't Lacken missing one of their All Stars and sure didn't they play a goalkeeper out the field!
No point in having lovely facilities and pitches when you cant get it right on the football pitch!

Yeah I think there's a link between league and championship in Monaghan just not sure of the ins and outs of it.

Has there ever been a senior side in Division 3 can anyone recall?

With Drumalee and Killygarry operating in the lower divisions of Cavan Football, Cavan Gaels are still the biggest club in Town and there wont be anymore local derbies for the foreseeable future . If truth be told, they weren't really local derbies as most of them were forgone conclusions before they started. I do recall a few conversations about how the Gaels were declining and numbers falling, yet year after year, they are still thereabouts come league or championship and their underage is flourishing. I recall a few pub conversations last year when Killygarry reached the Co Final, that they were a club on the up, large numbers, great facilities, yet they can barely field a full strength senior team.

I think that's a bit unfair, especially considering the set-up of the League where bulk of it is played without county players. Between Seniors and U20s and along with injuries, they'd have been missing a lot of players over the year. Can be easy enough to find yourself toward the bottom. Still should have won the playoff though, but a bit unfortunate to come across a team like Lacken in poor weather who are dab hands at arm wrestles of this sort having won many of them before when they looked long dead and gone. Championship is where we 'll see where they're at, not the all county league. They don't turn into a bad team overnight and they were good in their run last year. For me they still are a club on the up with their numbers and such

The league has been separate from the Championship for as long as I can remember.. Teams can get promoted up the leagues but must win their Championship to move up… the same can happen in the opposite direction too… I don't see how or what is the problem with this…

I've no problem with it at all its interesting to see the discrepancies between both though.

Most teams played without their County players for the league and a lot of teams had injuries, it wasn't that long ago that Killygarry had 3 mens teams and were boasting about all the numbers they had. 10 of their team that started the Co Final last year started against Lacken and another 2 came on as subs, thats 12 from last years final. A club on the up, how long have people being saying that for? They have lots of numbers and great facilities, but producing nothing at underage bar an odd league final and nothing at senior level. If they want to make any progress, they need to address their underage structure first and sort out the dictatorship that exists within the club.

I get all of that. I'm just saying let's hold for Championship first
