Armagh Vs Galway - 10 Like(s)
Thanks to the Galway team and supporters who made yesterday an unbelievably enjoyable day. Just a few things .... Whatever anyone choses to post or speculate, not one person in Armagh has or will condone the incident that happened between TK and Comer. However it is sad that it has completely overshadowed what was overall, a highly skilled, fast attacking and physical game - probably the best of the year. As for the witch hunt against TK himself and the subsequent trial by social, national and political media - a large number in the GAA community could do with wobbling their heads. He is not the first, nor will he be the last to do similar in the heat of match day. A quick Google will show that many of the counties represented by posters on this forum have been guilty of the same (not that that makes it any more excusable) but people seem to have very short memories of these incidents. I suggest you do so to jog the memories. At the end of the day, he is a human being and an amateur athlete that has made a big mistake. I'm sure he will be utterly devastated and regretful with his actions and I hope he reaches out to Comer and offers an apology, it would be the right thing to do. Sure, Armagh have had their fair share of melees this year, and it's certainly something we don't want to see carried forward. But contrary to popular opinion, Armagh people arent "thugs", and I hope the Galway people in the stands yesterday enjoyed the atmosphere our team and supporters brought with them. The GAA needs to take some responsibility for the development of melees in gaelic games. How often both in football and hurling have opposing teams clashed during the intervals approaching and entering the tunnel? Lastly, I'm extremely proud of the team and management. And can't thank them enough for the enjoyment they have given us supporters this year. Onwards and upwards for 2023! Ps. Any Donegal poster want to elaborate on how exactly Mackin got the fractured eye socket that warranted him wearing adapted eye wear during the match yesterday? Throwing stones in glass houses and all that!!

Replying To Donegal_abroad:  "Yes unfortunately hearing many reports of him spitting at Murphy when offered a handshake at the end. He couldn't lace his boots. I suppose tomorrow McConville or McDonnell will say we instigated that too."
Baseless accusations like this should have no place on a forum unless you have concrete evidence ie: the accusation has come straight from Murphy himself. If not the case, then I think both yourselves or the forum administrator should remove the comments. Vile accusations have repercussions both on and off the pitch. And as for the usual commentary about "orange flags" and "thuggary" its no surprise to us in Armagh. Having endured comments like "go back to your bombs and bullets" for years at away games in the South, we don't expect much better. And whilst this only stems from a handful of supporters, it tarnishes the game and leaves a very sour taste.

You see it as a chip. I see it as unacceptable. We can agree to differ.

Donegal V Armagh (Qualifiers) - 1 Like(s)
Absolutely delighted with our performance. After Ballyboofey, we had alot of questions to answer and alot to improve on, and we did. Donegal will be disappointed with todays team performance, we all know they are capable of much more. But the atmosphere, good and bad was reflective of the sheer competition and anomosity between two teams after a turbulant few months. I'm very proud to be from Armagh, and think we have some of the best supporters who followed Armagh in large numbers the length and breadth of the country, to division 2 and 3 league games for many years. And we didnt have many good days like today. So whilst some neutrals may brandish it as a disgrace, it's simply people enjoying the occasion and the win. Yes Murphy didn't get much respect today, and whilst we know he's a fantastic footballer and servant of the game, there's no love lost. And Murphy can probably count himself lucky he finished the game on the pitch. That being said, whether he plays intercounty football for another year or not, we wish him well. Looking forward to the draw (bets on Derry) and a day out in Croke Park.

Red Neds and Keegans are both within very close walking distance of the Athletic grounds and both good pubs! McKennas and Devlins get a bit busier later at night with young ones.

Replying To themaddog:  "The paranoia is strong in this post. One of the Armagh players let the jersey down yesterday, it is not a baseless accusation. Vile behaviour on the pitch should also have consequences, unless you get your legal team involved like Armagh have a tendency to do. Unfortunately one of the Armagh players was unable to take his beating like a man and resorted to the lowest of behaviour. How Murphy showed such restraint when he followed him down to the Armagh huddle I'll never know. One man is a great ambassador for his county, the other is an Armagh man."
There's no paranoia involved. At the end of the day, not one member has posted any source of this accusation. If it were true, then I agree it has no place in the sport and would fully back any disciplinary process. It was not on the TV coverage and I would struggle to see how any spectator could have seen it given the two players were between the 13m and 20m line. So again, as I posted previously, unless Murphy has made this accusation himself or it was cited by the referee or his umpires, then I think the jury should perhaps hold fire on calling for a footballers retirement.
