Lynch hoping to end Croker record against Kingdom
August 20, 2008
Anthony Lynch believes it's time his Cork team mates moved on from last year's All-Ireland final and finally defeat Kerry at Croke Park.
The Munster Champions have yet to get one over on the Kingdom at headquarters and Lynch thinks that the Cork players will be provided with that extra incentive when they line out on Croker's play field faced with their Kerry opponents.
"Some guys will look at it as an incentive to make up for last year. Other guys think differently. Every guy is different.
"It's important to beat Kerry at Croke Park. We haven't done it - that's glaringly obvious. It's a standout thing. It's very important to us. Last year in the All-Ireland was a bad time. But you learn as much as you can, you just move on. It's a chance to get to an All-Ireland final."
Although confident of a win on Sunday, Lynch, who almost missed last year's All-Ireland final with injury, suggests that this current Kerry side have great strength and depth and has remained tight-lipped about how they intend to stop Pat O'Shea's men for the second time this summer.
"I don't think Kerry have many chinks in their armour. One of their main things in the last few years is if a game isn't going their way, they seem to be able to open the bench and release their depth.
"In tough games they've come through, their bench has helped them in that way.
"They seem to have an answer to every question. A team like that doesn't have a chink their armour."
