Canty in fitness battle
August 12, 2008
Cork captain Graham Canty is facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday week's All-Ireland football semi-final against Kerry.
Despite being back in full training after straining knee ligaments in the Munster final win over the Kingdom on July 6, the Bantry Blues clubman wasn't fit enough to play in last Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Kildare.
Cork manager Conor Counihan said his captain has no more than a '50-50' chance of lining out against Kerry in what is a rematch of last year's All-Ireland final.
"He still has work to do and I would rate his chances at around 50-50. I would be hopeful that he will be ready," Counihan said.
