Kildare seek to defer quarter-final

August 04, 2008
It is understood that the Kildare County Board will be looking to defer their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final with Cork fixed for next Sunday, August 10. The game would see Kieran McGeeney's side play their fourth match in as many weeks and the County Board believes that a week's rest has been earned to play the game the following weekend. However, Cork are not likely to be in favour of re-fixing the game with original fixture at Croke Park down to precede the All-Ireland SHC semi-final between Cork and Kilkenny. The Rebel footballers have also been waiting to play since their defeat of Kerry in the Munster SFC and Conor Counihan will not want any further delay. The GAA will have to rule on the issue soon as another busy weekend of games at Croke Park nears this weekend.
