Lotty, Robbie

June 06, 2006
The late Robbie Lotty On Tuesday April 25th, 2006, we in Cumann Luth Gael lost a great friend and colleague when the sad news came through that Robbie Lotty had died. The late Robbie gave a long and distinguished service to Sarsfield Hurling Club and Glanmire Football Club as a great player, great administrator an supporter of all teams. As a player the late Robbie captained the Hurling School Shield U-14 team in 1950 which won the county title. In 1953, the Minor Hurling team won the County title in which Robbie was a member. In 1954, the late Robbie captained the minor hurling team to retain the County Minor Hurling title. In 1957, the late Robbie was a member of the successful Senior Hurling Team which won the County title. The late Robbie continued to play on various Junior Hurling teams for many years and when he retired, Robbie continued to be greatly involved as a hurling selector on many teams. As Runai of the hurling Club for many years, Robbie produced some excellent, well documented reports for the annual General Meeting and for many years up to the time of his death, the late Robbie was a Hurling Club Committee member Robbie always offered great advice on many issues and treated everyone in both clubs very courteously. Robbie was also a member of the Football Club for many years. When a Fixtures Sub Committee of both clubs was formed in 2002 the late Robbie was the Committee Cathaoirleach. The late Robbie was a great golfing enthusiast. It was quite evident by the very large attendance at his removal and funeral, the high esteem in which Robbie was held. To Una and family, brothers and sisters, we extend our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace. Courtesy of The Imokelly People 4 May 2006
