BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON CAREER: Family and my local club officials
WAYS OF IMPROVING THE GAME: Underage coaching
BEST GAME SEEN:1990 Munster Final
PLAYERS WITH A PROMISING FUTURE: Timmy Kelleher, Barry Egan
HOPES FOR 1992: To win an All-Ireland medal
ANY ALL-IRELAND MEDAL HOLDERS IN INNISCARRA: Pat McDonnell, Tomas Ryan, senior hurling
YOU PLAY INTERMEDIATE HURLING AND JUNIOR FOOTBALL. IS IT HARD FOR A PLAYER OPERATING IN THE LOWER GRADES TO BREAK ONTO THE CORK HURLING TEAM? Well, in Cork there are a lot of players in the lower grades playing with Cork, Barry Egan, Denis Walsh, Cathal Casey. However, you have the chance of playing senior championship hurling with your division
OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE REPRESENTED THE COUNTY IN BOTH UNDERAGE CODES: No, I have only played with Cork at hurling underage
YOU ARE ALSO A TALENTED FOOTBALLER: Well, I play a lot of football with my club and my divisional side Muscraí
IT HAS BEEN A LONG HARD SUMMER FOR YOU GER - PLAYING JUNIOR HURLING AND FOOTBALL WITH THE COUNTY (TWO PROVINCIAL MEDALS GAINED) AND NOW INVOLVED WITH THE SENIOR HURLERS: Yes, things have got well for me so far, it's been a tough year, but very enjoyable and hopefully on the 1st Sunday in September, it will have a successful end
AND YOU GOT MARRIED LAST SPRING: Yes, I got married early on this year. Luckily my wife Annette is one of my greatest supporters
HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED SENIOR FOOTBALL FOR CORK? I have played a few challenge matches
YOU DID NOT GET YOUR PLACE AT THE START OF THE MUNSTER FINAL, BUT YOU GAVE AN IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY WHEN COMING ON AND YOU MUST ALSO HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH YOUR PERFORMANCE IN THE DOWN MATCH: The game against Limerick went well for me. I was lucky in that Cork were well in control when I came on. The Down game was a difficult game for us, so we were delighted with our win
YOUR LATE FATHER WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED WITH YOUR LOCAL CLUB: He was the secretary of the club for 10 years and was also involved with the selecting of teams
IS THE CORK CAMP CONFIDENT ABOUT SUNDAY'S OUTCOME? We are looking forward to the game
YOUR VIEWS ON FR. O'BRIEN AND GERALD MCCARTHY: Fr. O'Brien is the best motivator I have been involved with, while Gerald McCarthy is one of the best trainers in the country
CORK LAPSED FOR LONG STAGES OF THE DOWN MATCH. SUCH SHORTCOMINGS ON SUNDAY COULD PROVE FATAL: Down played very well against us. Kilkenny is a new game
IS THERE A FUTURE FOR THE DOWN HURLERS? Yes, they have some very good hurlers
BECAUSE OF CORK'S CONTINUED SUCCESS OVER THE YEARS AND IN BOTH CODES, THE COUNTY PROBABLY HAS A LOWER KEY APPROACH TO AN ALL-IRELAND THAN ANY OTHER COUNTY. THIS OBVIOUSLY IS AN ADVANTAGE AS IT TAKES A LOT OF THE PRESSURE FROM THE PLAYERS: Well, this is my first final, so it is a new experience to me
CORK HAVE A BAD RECORD AGAINST THE KILKENNY MEN OF LATE, REMEMBERING THAT HAMMERING BACK IN '82 AND THE '83 BEATING: Sunday's game is a different game so hopefully we will reserve that
THE CORK ATTACK IS PROBABLY THE BEST IN THE GAME. THE COMPETITION FOR PLACES MUST KEEP EVERYBODY IN THIS SECTOR ON THEIR TOES: The competition at the moment is very good. Everybody is trying hard to get included, so players should benefit from it
ANY INJURIES TO REPORT IN THE REBEL CAMP? None
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE KILKENNY DEFENCE? Very strong
CAN THE CORK BACKS COPE WITH DJ? We will have to wait and see
WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER, A DRY OR A WET DAY? No preference
A CORK WIN, OF COURSE: Hopefully
