A dual life for Damien

January 16, 2014

Cork's Damian Cahalane tackles Kerry's Shane O'Callaghan.
Damien Cahalane is to follow the lead of Aidan Walsh and Eoin Cadogan by returning to the Cork senior hurling fold.

The Cork Evening Echo reports that Cahalane - who was involved with the squad in 2012 - is also going to try his luck at combining both codes in 2014.

Jimmy Barry-Murphy's players are to return to their training headquarters at Cork IT tonight but Cahalane won't be present as he is currently recovering from a double hip operation which has sidelined him for a few months.

The three footballers will be joined by other newcomers Paul Haughney (Midleton), Michael Cahalane (Bandon) and Brian Lawton (Castlemartyr).

Meanwhile, players on the injury list include Seamus Harnedy, Conor O'Sullivan and Patrick Cronin along with Paudie O'Sullivan.

Barry-Murphy's charges are scheduled to face UCC on Saturday week in the Mardyke (12pm) in the Canon O'Brien Cup.
