Cork's Ciaran Sheehan
Cork's footballers have suffered another blow with the news that Ciaran Sheehan is to join AFL club Carlton Blues.

The 22 year old is to link up with fellow countrymen Zach Tuohy and Ciaran Byrne in Melbourne next January after agreeing a two-year contract with the Aussie Rules side.

"It's a great opportunity that I didn't want to turn down," he revealed to theScore.ie.

"I thought a lot about it and didn't take the decision lightly.

"Leaving home is very tough and not playing for Cork or Eire Og is a difficult thing to take. But this is something I wanted to do so I'm going to go for it."

It is another set-back for new Rebel County manager Brian Cuthbert who has already lost the services of Noel O'Leary, Paudie Kissane, Graham Canty, Pearse O'Neill and Alan Quirke to retirement.
