John Gardiner will not be a part of Cork senior hurlers' 2013 campaign as the former All-Star has been dropped by manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy.
Gardiner only played a peripheral role for the Rebels in 2012 and has not be included on the current provisional panel, despite making himself available for selection for 2013.
A spokesman for the management would not be drawn on the issue, stating: "we are not commenting on any panel formation until the new year."
The Leesiders are also likely to be without Pa Cronin for their Munster SHC semi-final against either Clare or Waterford, after the midfielder was issued a one-match ban for an incident which occurred during the All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat to Galway back in August.
Cork have yet to comment on whether or not the player intends on appealing the suspension handed down by Croke Park's Central Hearings Committee.
