Cork mourn John O'Mahony

The Cork team that defeated Kerry in the 1966 Munster SFC decider.
John made his senior intercounty debut in 1959 and featured on the Cork team for over a decade. He won back-to-back Munster SFC medals in 1966 and '67 and lined out against Meath in the 1967 All-Ireland final.
The Kanturk clubman was also selected to represent Munster in the Railway Cup.
A superb dual star, John won five successive Duhallow junior hurling championships as well as a county title in 1969. He also won three junior football medals and captained his beloved Duhallow as well as coaching the divisional outfit to the 1982 county SFC final.
He featured on many Cork football management teams and was involved in that capacity in the All-Ireland junior successes of 1997 and 2001.
John O'Mahony was also known as a wonderful referee, taking charge of eight divisional finals. Tweet
