Munster club JHC: Meelin power to title

December 13, 2010
Cork side Meelin were crowned AIB Munster club junior hurling champions following an emphatic victory over St. Patrick's at Mallow.

Meelin (Cork) 5-18
St. Patrick's (Tipperary) 0-9

Such an outcome could not have been predicted after Tony O'Brien notched the opening two points of the game for St. Patrick's. But Meelin, who share the same green and gold colours as Newtownshandrum - the club of their manager Liam Ryan - took complete control after top-scorer Eamon Brosnan crashed home their first goal in the ninth minute.

A second goal from Jeremy Curtin left the Cork champions ahead by 2-5 to 0-3 after 15 minutes. By half-time, they had stretched their advantage to 3-12 to 0-5 thanks to a third major from DJ O'Sullivan in the 24th minute.

Shane O'Riordan got in on the goal-scoring act after the restart to leave Meelin 4-15 to 0-8 ahead at the end of the third quarter. And there was no respite for St. Patrick's as DJ O'Sullivan pounced for his second goal in the 46th minute to complete the rout.
