Finalists to wear changed strips

August 31, 2010

The last time Down and Cork met in a final was in the 2009 All Ireland U21 football decider. Down worn a change of colours while Cork lined out in their traditional red jersey.
Cork and Down will both wear alternative strips in next month's All-Ireland football final.

The CCCC decided at their meeting yesterday that the teams must wear changed strips due to a colour clash. Cork will sport white jerseys with a red trim, while Down will line out in a gold, black and red strip. Both counties wore those colours when Down emerged victorious from the 1994 All-Ireland semi-final clash.

The last time both counties were forced to change their strip in an All-Ireland final was in 1982 when Offaly, in white with green and gold shoulders, famously denied Kerry, wearing all-green, the five-in-a-row.
