Goold makes case for inclusion

Cork's Fintan Goold
Fintan Goold made a strong case for inclusion in Cork's All-Ireland final line-up when he played a starring role for Macroom in their Cork IFC quarter-final victory over Fermoy last night.

Lining out at centre back, Goold was the best player on view, scoring two excellent points before half-time to help his side to a 0-6 to 0-3 interval lead. Third quarter goals from Gary Morris and David Goold put the Mid-Cork side on their way to a 2-10 to 1-5 victory and to a semi-final date with Castletownbere after the All-Ireland final.

Fintan Goold has been regularly used as a substitute by Cork manager Conor Counihan and made a late appearance in place of Noel O'Leary during last Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final win over Dublin.
