O'Donovan Rossa club notes

The O'Donovan Rossa senior footballers suffered a disappointing three point defeat against Newcestown last Thursday evening in the eighth round of the Kelleher Shield on a 2-6 to 1-6 scoreline.
The senior footballers remain well poised to clinch promotion to the top filght of league football but will have to win two of their remaining three away league games against Mallow, St Michaels and Mayfield to secure automatic promotion.
Best wishes are expressed to ace club player, Thomas Hegarty who has been included in the Cork minor football squad that will play Galway this Sunday afternoon in Croke Park. The winners of this tie advance to a final showdown against Tyrone.
The junior 2 footballers resume championship action this Saturday evening when they travel to Aughaville to play Clann na nGael in the semi-final stages of the championship. Skibb who have beaten Clann na nGael and Newcestown to reach the final four face an ardous task however against a very strong Scorchers outfit bidding to reach their second successive championship final in consecutive weeks. This game has a 7pm throw-in.
The junior hurlers resume their league campaign with a home game against St James scheduled for Tuesday evening, August 31, at 7.15pm in the Rossa Park.
Rossa Park has been chosen to host this year's South West junior A football championship final. This much anticipated final between Clann na nGael and Gabriel Rangers will be held on Sunday, September 5, with an evening kick-off. A general clean up of the club facilties will take place this Saturday morning with all volunteers requested to be in the Rossa Park at 10.30am to ensure the facilities are looking resplendent on the day.
There was no winner of the lotto draw which took place in the Fairfield Bar last Monday night for e8,500. The numbers drawn were 7, 14, 16 and 20. The consolation prize winner was Aidan and Mary Fitzgerald. Next week's lotto draw will be held in the Paragon Bar and will have a jackpot of e8,750.
