Kelly point was valid, Cooney insists

GAA president Christy Cooney has rejected suggestions that Patrick Kelly's second half point for Cork against Dublin last Sunday should have been disallowed.

Kelly shot at the Davin End goal after taking a quick free from Daniel Goulding and while none of the Dublin players protested, TV replays suggest that the score may have been wide.

"I didn't hear of any controversy on the radio or on The Sunday Game," Cooney said.

"There's no evidence to suggest a wide and the officials handled the game extremely well - there's no controversy around the score."

Cooney was also delighted with Croke Park's first full house of the season.

"The atmosphere was something tremendous with the tension and goodwill between all supporters," he added.
