Quirke ready for Rebels

Cork keeper Alan Quirke
Alan Quirke is in line to make his first start for Cork this season when Conor Counihan's team welcome Galway this Saturday night.

The Rebels' shot-stopper has been hindered by injury as of late, which saw him miss out on the opening wins over Monaghan and Kerry, but he is now ready to resume between the posts for his county, who are still without key defensive trio Graham Canty, John Miskella and Anthony Lynch for the game this weekend.

Should Counihan's men take two points from Saturday's fixture then they will have went a long way towards maintaining their Division One status, after coming up from the second tier as champions this year.

"Our goal was to stay in Division One and we've made a good start to achieving that by getting four points from the first two games. I think six points would make us safe so we just need another win now to achieve that," said team selector Ger O'Sullivan.
