Munster JFC: Rebels regain title

June 26, 2009
Cork 1-21 Clare 0-13 Cork regained the Munster JFC crown at Pairc Ui Chaoimh last night following an emphatic victory over Clare. The success is a further boost to the Rebels who have already claimed the All-Ireland under 21 title this year and are gearing up for a Munster senior final meeting with Limerick. Fielding a vastly experienced line-up that included four of this year's All-Ireland under 21 winners, the home side were always in control against a game but limited Clare team. Cork got off to a flyer when Ciaran Sheehan, who is soon to embark on an Aussie Rules career, goaled after just 20 seconds, and they went on to lead by 1-11 to 0-5 at half-time. Clare staged a recovery after the restart and had reduced the deficit to seven points with a quarter of the game left, but points from Daniel O'Donovan, Sheehan and Vincent Hurley sealed a comfortable win for the Rebels.
