Crowd congestion to be reviewed

The Munster Council are to review the crowd congestion that caused the replay of Cork and Kerry to be delayed by 25 minutes last Saturday evening. Thousands of GAA patrons had trouble entering the Pairc Ui Chaoimh grounds last weekend for the replay, which saw Cork produce a devastating display and earn a place in the Munster final. However, the Munster Council want to find out what exactly went wrong to force the delay of the match, although council spokesman Jim Forbes is adamant that supporters arriving late was the main cause. "This certainly isn't the first match to have been delayed in the history of the GAA, a fact ignored by many journalists," stressed Forbes. "Every emergency procedure was in place and the crowd management plans began ten days before the game. Everything was in place as normal and the gardai were monitoring the course of events very closely. "It's quite simple what caused the delay; it was people arriving late to the game for various reasons. This might have been a result of trying to get through Cork on the busiest shopping day of the week."
