Shields not looking beyond Limerick

Cork's Michael Shiels
Michael Shields insists Cork won't be taking Limerick for granted in next month's Munster SFC final. The Rebels are being spoken of as All-Ireland favourites after their magnificent performance against Kerry in last Saturday's Munster SFC semi-final replay, but Shields feels it would be dangerous to look beyond the Shannonsiders. "We are confident that we can win the All-Ireland, but first things first, we are playing Limerick next and they are a good side and they have a good manager in Mickey Ned O'Sullivan," the full back said. "They will be full of confidence and they will feel that they have nothing to lose." The St. Finbarr's clubman has no regrets about returning from Australia where he was on the books of Aussie Rules outfit Carlton, especially after last Saturday's exhilarating victory. "If I was sitting in Australia now, I would be going off my head. I suppose I did a lot of good hard training in Australia and it's standing to me now," he added. Meanwhile, Cork selector Jim Nolan doesn't expect complacency to be an issue in the lead-up to the Munster final on July 5 after last year's fortuitous win over the Treatymen. "I remember sitting in the Gaelic Grounds stand a year ago and saying 'lads we're gone', and then we got two goals to rescue it. We've already met Limerick in a challenge this year and they gave us plenty of it," the Castlehaven man said.
