Midleton CBS 2-12

CBC Cork 0-14

Jason Hankard and Joe Stack scored goals in either half as Midleton CBS were crowned Harty Cup champions for the first time since 2006 at Páirc Uí Rinn.

Before a bumper attendance of 7,089, the east Cork school did just enough to see off the challenge of Christian Brothers College, who were appearing in their first final since 1918. The winners got off to a dream start when Hankard doubled on Ryan McCarthy's long delivery from a free to rattle the net.

But with Padraig Power unerring from placed balls, CBC registered seven of the next eight points to open up a 0-7 to 1-2 lead. Ryan McCarthy levelled with a free and a '65' before Power nailed his fifth free to edge CBC back in front.

Midleton regained the lead through scores from Cathal Hickey and McCarthy, only for Power and Shane Barrett to cancel them out. However, McCarthy's fourth point ensured the winners of parity at the break.

Power and McCarthy exchanged further points after the restart and there was nothing to separate the sides until Midleton made a decisive breakthrough in the 53rd minute when Stack grabbed their second goal after David Barry had blocked his initial shot.

Padraig Power replied for CBC, but they wouldn't score again as two late Ross O'Regan points sealed Midleton's victory.
