Cork defender Lorcan McLoughlin has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling after nine seasons with the Rebel County.
The three-time Munster SHC winner announced the news on Twitter earlier today, thanking his family and friends as well as his native club Kanturk.
Having made his debut for the Leesiders in 2010, McLoughlin went on to win provincial honours in 2014, 2017 and 2018 and came closes to All-Ireland glory in 2013 when Cork lost out to Davy Fitzgerald’s Clare in a replayed final.
He was also part of the Cork U21 All-Ireland football winning side in 2009 and returned to Croke Park’s hallowed turf this past February when Kanturk defeated St Pat’s Ballyraggett (Kilkenny) in the All-Ireland club IHC final, contributing seven points from centre-field in a historic one-point victory.
