Hayes, Paddy

September 09, 2005
The Late Paddy Hayes The unexpected and untimely death of Paddy Hayes, Grange, following a short illness, saddened and shocked the entire district. Paddy was a well known and popular member of the farming community and was married to Kathleen for 31 years. A great family man who was very proud of his sons and daughters, Paddy did not live to see Ivan, who runs the family farm, represent Clare in the national final of the 2005 FBD Young Farmer of the Future on September 6. Paddy had a great interest in sport and was a member of the 1967 junior hurling panel that won the North Tipperary title. Large crowds of sympathisers paid their last respects to Paddy at his home in Grange, and reception service and funeral mass in the Church of Our Lady and St. Lua Ballina. Requiem Mass, concelebrated by Fr John J. O'Rourke, Fr Tom Lanigan Ryan, Fr Ted O'Rahelly, Fr James Grace, Fr Pat Malone and Fr Bobby Fletcher was followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to Paddy's wife, Kathleen, his daughters, Rita and Miriam, his sons, Ivan and Patrick; his sisters, St Rita, Mary, Therese and Nora, his brother, Gus, relatives, extended family and friends.
